1941: Rangers defeat Hearts 4-2 at Hampden in the Semi-Final of the Summer Cup. Goals from Alex Venters, Willie Thornton and Willie McIntosh saw the Gers race into a 3-goal lead before McIntosh scored again to ensure the Light Blues’ place in the Final alongside Hibs.

1991: Rangers sign Alexei Mikhailichenko from Sampdoria for £2 million.

2001: Rangers begin pre-season with a 7-0 thrashing of Dovo at Veenendaal. Ronald de Boer, Kenny Miller (3), Arthur Numan, Billy Dodds and Andrei Kanchelskis are all on the scoresheet. On the same day, David Murray made the surprise announcement that he was to stand down from his role as Chairman of Rangers. He commented that the change would allow him to focus more time on his duties with Murray International Holdings and named his Deputy John McClelland as his successor. Murray would adopt the title of Honorary Chairman.

2010: Kris Boyd signs for Middlesbrough on a Free Transfer from Rangers.
