1886: Charlie Heggie and Alick McKenzie are the only known goalscorers from Rangers’ 3-2 Friendly win over Port Glasgow.

1904: A goal each from RC Hamilton, Alec Mackie and Charles Donaghy sees Rangers to a 3-0 victory against Kilmarnock at Ibrox in a League fixture.

1915: Willie Reid scores the only goal as Rangers defeat Morton 1-0 at Cappielow.

1926: Alan Morton and Tully Craig score as Rangers come from 2 down to salvage a 2-2 draw with Hearts at Ibrox.

1932: Rangers thrash Brechin 8-2 in the Scottish Cup 1st Round, thanks to goals from Sam English (3), Bob McPhail (2), Jimmy Fleming (2) and Dr Jimmy Marshall. The Gers would play Raith in the 2nd Round.

1937: Rangers ease to a 4-1 win away at Motherwell with goals scored by Jimmy Smith (2), Bob McPhail and Tom McKillop.

1943: A Charlie Johnston brace and a goal from Alex Venters gives Rangers a 3-1 victory over Clyde at Shawfield.

1945: It was reported by the London Gazette that former Rangers player Ian McPherson was to be awarded a bar to add to his Distinguished Flying Cross. It reflected McPherson’s incredible courage as one of the finest members of the RAF’s flying squad during the 2nd World War when he was a pilot on some of the earliest bombing raids on Germany. After the War, he would resume his career with Arsenal.

1954: Rangers beat Airdrie 3-0 at Ibrox. 2 goals from William Gardiner and 1 from Willie Thornton secured the points.

1960: Eric Caldow equalises with a penalty as Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw by Partick Thistle at Ibrox.

1965: Rangers defeat Airdrie 4-0 at Broomfield thanks to goals from Davie Wilson, Willie Johnston, Eric Caldow and Jim Forrest.

1971: Despite going ahead through John Greig, Rangers are forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Dundee Utd at Ibrox.

1973: Alex MacDonald is on the scoresheet as Rangers are beaten 3-1 at home by Ajax in the 1st Leg of the inaugural European Super Cup. With the Light Blues banned from Europe, a 2-legged tie with the Champions of the continent was arranged and also coincided with Rangers’ own centenary celebrations.

1982: Gordon Dalziel and Davie Cooper get the goals as Rangers beat Dundee Utd 2-0 at Ibrox.

1988: Ian Durrant is on target in Edinburgh as the Gers can only draw 1-1 with Hearts. Sandy Clark levelled up for the Jambos.

2004: Jesper Christiansen leaves Rangers and signs for Viborg on a Free Transfer.

2007: Rangers sign Davie Weir on a Free Transfer from Everton on a deal until the end of the season.

2008: Rangers defeat Gretna 2-1 at Fir Park. Barry Ferguson opened the scoring but a goal from Daniel Cousin was required to seal the victory.

2010: Nacho Novo scores a 78th minute winner to hand Rangers a 1-0 win against Hamilton at New Douglas Park.

2015: Rangers’ League match with Hearts at Ibrox is abandoned at 0-0 after 24 minutes due to a poor playing surface, caused by snow.

1969: Willie Johnston and Wiliie Henderson get the goals at the Olympic Stadium as Rangers defeat DWS Amsterdam 2-0 in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 3rd Round 1st Leg. Although the Gers were firmly in control of the tie, the relatively unknown Dutch side were not to be taken lightly as the they had already disposed of Chelsea in the previous Round.

1983: John McDonald levels the scores to earn Rangers a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

1988: Rangers sign John Brown from Dundee for £350,000. Jan Bartram is also recruited, joining for £180,000 from Danish side Silkeborg.

1994: Gordon Durie scores in the 87th minute to salvage a point for Rangers who can only draw 1-1 with Dundee at Dens Park.

The match also saw a return of the Captian’s armband to Ferguson, who had been stripped of it by Paul le Guen just 12 days earlier.
