1875: The goalscorers remain unknown as Rangers beat Barrhead Rangers 2-0 in a Friendly.

1897: Rangers wrap up their League fixtures with a 3-2 home win over St Bernard’s. Goals from Alec Smith, John McPherson and a Russell OG hands the Gers a victory. The Light Blues finished in 3rd place, 3 points off winners Hearts and 1 behind Hibs.

1904: RC Hamilton scores the only goal as Rangers defeat St Mirren 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final. The Ibrox side would face Morton in the Semi.

1909: William McPherson grabs the winner to give Rangers a 1-0 victory over Queen’s Park in the Quarter-Final of the Scottish Cup. The Gers would meet Falkirk in the Semi-Final.

1915: Willie Reid nets a hat-trick as Rangers defeat Hearts 4-3 at Tynecastle. Tommy Cairns was also on the scoresheet.

1926: Robert McKay and Andy Cunningham get the goals as Rangers beat Falkirk 2-0 in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. The Light Blues were draw to play Morton in the Quarter-Final.

1932: Rangers thump Third Lanark 6-1 thanks to goals from Bob McPhail (2), Sam English (2), Dr Jimmy Marshall and Sandy Archibald.

1937: Despite going ahead through Jimmy Smith, Rangers are forced to settle for a 1-1 draw by Queen’s Park at Ibrox.

1943: Alex Venters and Torry Gillick are on the scoresheet in Rangers’ 2-0 victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

1954: Rangers are held to a 3-3 draw by Hearts. Willie Gardiner, Willie Paton and Willie Waddell scored to put Rangers 3-1 up inside 22 minutes. Alfie Conn Senior netted an 88th minute equaliser.

1957: Rangers suffer a 2-0 loss at home to Celtic in the Scottish Cup 6th Round Replay.

1965: Jim Forrest scores twice as Rangers defeat Dundee Utd 2-0 in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round at Tannadice. The Gers progressed to face Hibs in the Quarter-Final.

1998: Rangers sell Gary Bollan to St Johnstone for £100,000.

1999: Rangers defeat Dundee 6-1 at Ibrox thanks to a Jorg Albertz hat-trick and goals from Neil McCann (2) and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

2005: Rangers end Celtic’s 11-game unbeaten run in Old Firm matches at Parkhead with a 2-0 victory. Gregory Vignal and Nacho Novo were on the scoresheet for the visitors.

2011: Rangers are beaten 3-0 by Celtic at Parkhead.

2015: A goal each from Andy Murdoch and Kris Boyd hands Rangers a 2-1 win over Raith at Stark’s Park.

1876: Rangers are beaten 1-0 in a Friendly by Lennox at Burnbank. The Gers were without founders Moses McNeil and Peter Campbell who were down in England representing Glasgow in a match against Sheffield, becoming the first Rangers players to win representative honours.

1881: The goalscorers remain unknown from Rangers’ 8-2 Friendly win over Partick Thistle at Levengrove Park.

1887: Pat Lafferty, Matthew Lawrie, Robert Fraser and Joe Lindsay are the only known scorers as Rangers beat Old Westminsters 5-1 in the FA Cup Quarter-Final. The Gers would meet Aston Villa in the Semi. This would be the last competitive match to be played at Rangers’ Kinning Park Ground. It would be officially closed the following week with a match between a team of former Rangers players against the current side. The Light Blues would play 2 home fixtures at Third Lanark’s Cathkin Park whilst work was completed on their new home, Ibrox Park.

2017: Joe Garner’s 2nd half goal isn’t enough as Rangers slip to 2-1 loss away at Dundee, in Graeme Murty’s 2nd match in-charge.

1878: A goal each from Sandy Marshall and David Hill earns Rangers a 2-1 Friendly victory away at Sheffield Wednesday.

1882: The Rangers goalscorers remain unknown from their 5-2 defeat in a Friendly to St Mirren at Thistle Park.

1888: Rangers suffer a 5-1 loss to Aston Villa in a Friendly at Perry Barr. The Light Blues scorer remains untraced.

1893: Rangers defeat Celtic 3-1 in the Glasgow Cup Final at Cathkin Park. Goals from John Barker, Neil Kerr and John McPherson saw the Gers exact revenge for their defeat to the Parkhead side in the previous season’s Charity Cup Final, the only other Final that pitted the 2 Clubs against each other so far. At the celebration banquet, Rangers President Sir John Ure Primrose thanked Celtic for being worthy and sporting opponents. John Glass of Celtic replied “There is no Club which the Celts would rather see win the Cup than Rangers!”

1899: Rangers beat Clyde 4-0 in the Quarter-Final of the Scottish Cup. A goal each from Tommy Low, John McPherson, Neilly Gibson and RC Hamilton set-up a Semi with St Mirren. Hamilton also missed a penalty.

1905: Archie Kyle is on target as Rangers are beaten 4-1 at home by Celtic in a League match.

1911: Alex Bennett and Willie Reid get the goals as Rangers beat Partick Thistle 2-0 at Ibrox.

1922: Alan Morton grabs an 87th minute winner as Rangers defeat Partick Thistle 1-0. The game attracted a Firhill record attendance of 49,838.

1928: Rangers come from behind to beat King’s Park at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. A 2nd half Alan Morton brace and a goal from Andy Cunningham booked a Quarter-Final tie with Albion Rovers.

1931: Despite being 2-0 up after 8 minutes through Jimmy Smith and Dr Jimmy Marshall, Rangers can only draw 1-1 with Ayr Utd at Somerset Park.

1933: Rangers suffer a 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park to Kilmarnock in the 3rd Round of the Scottish Cup.

1939: Albert Lyness scores from the penalty spot as Rangers are beaten 4-1 by Clyde at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. All 4 of the Bully Wee’s goals were scored by Willie Martin, the first occasion someone had achieve such a feat against the Gers at Ibrox and it wouldn’t be repeated until Alan Gilzean hit 4 for Dundee in 1961.

1950: Rangers beat St Mirren 2-1 in Paisley. Eddie Rutherford levelled up for the visitors before Willie Waddell netted the winner.

1956: Don Kitchenbrand scores the crucial goal as Rangers defeat Dundee 1-0 at Dens Park in the Scottish Cup 6th Round. Hearts would provide the Quarter-Final opposition.

1959: A 2nd half Andy Matthew double sees Rangers come from 2-down to take a 2-2 draw against Raith at Stark’s Park.

1961: Rangers are held to a 0-0 draw by Dunfermline at East End Park.

1967: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Leicester in a Friendly at Filbert Street.

1978: Derek Johnstone nets an 18th minute winner as Rangers defeat Stirling Albion 1-0 at Ibrox in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup. The Ibrox men were drawn to face Kilmarnock in the Quarter-Final.

1981: A Colin McAdam double and a goal from Gregor Stevens secures a 3-1 victory for Rangers over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup 4th Round Replay at Ibrox. Ally McCoist pulled a goal back for the Saints. The Gers would play Hibs in the Quarter-Final.

1984: Rangers thump Inverness Caledonian 6-0 in the Scottish Cup 4th Round thanks to goals from Ally McCoist (2), Bobby Williamson (2), Ian Redford and Bobby Russell. The Light Blues would play Dundee in the Quarter-Final.

1989: Rangers cruise to an 8-0 win against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup 4th Round with goals scored by Kevin Drinkell (2), John Brown (2), Ally McCoist (2), Ian Ferguson and Mark Walters. The Light Blues set-up a Quarter-Final clash with Dundee Utd.

2001: 2 goals from Tore Andre Flo and 1 from Barry Ferguson seals a 3-2 win for Rangers over Ross County in the Scottish Cup 4th Round. The Gers were to face Dundee Utd in the Quarter-Final.

2003: Arthur Numan announces his retirement from professional football. The Defender would see out the season with the Light Blues.

1889: The goalscorers remain unknown from Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Ayr FC in a Friendly.

1895: Rangers suffer a 1-0 defeat to Third Lanark in a League fixture at Ibrox.

1901: Rangers wrap up their League fixtures with a 3-2 win over Morton at Ibrox. An RC Hamilton double and a goal from Finlay Speedie handed the Light Blues a victory. The Championship had already been secured, and the Gers finished the campaign 6 points clear of 2nd placed Celtic.

1907: Rangers defeat Galston in the Scottish Cup 4th Round. Goals from George Livingstone (2), J.Dickie and Jimmy Spiers set-up a Quarter-Final with Celtic.

1918: A David Brown double and a goal from Tommy Cairns secures a 3-0 win for Rangers at Shawfield over Clyde.

1927: James Hair scores both goals as Rangers are held to a 2-2 draw away at Aberdeen.

1929: Tommy Muirhead and Sandy Archibald get the goals as Rangers beat Clyde 2-0 in the 3rd Round of the Scottish Cup. The Ibrox men would face Dundee Utd in the Quarter-Final.

1935: Rangers come from behind to beat Airdrie 3-1 at Ibrox thanks to a Bob McPhail double and a goal from Sammy Roberts.

1946: Rangers finish off their Southern League fixtures with a 2-0 loss at Tynecastle. The Gers had already been confirmed as Champions, and finished 8 points ahead of Hibs in 2nd. This match was also Dougie Gray’s final League match for Rangers. The longest-serving Ranger made 940 appearances, including those made during the War years, and would play twice more in Glasgow Cup ties before retiring at the end of the following season.

1952: Willie Thornton scores the only goal, just before half-time as Rangers beat Airdrie 1-0 at Broomfield.

1957: Rangers draw 4-4 with Celtic in the Scottish Cup 6th Round at Parkhead. The game was 2-2 after the first quarter of an hour, with the visitors twice going ahead through Bobby Morrison and then Billy Simpson. There was no further scoring until the 75th minute when Celtic went in-front and looked to have won the tie when they scored again 6 minutes later. A Johnny Hubbard penalty and a Max Murray goal in the final 7 minutes forced a Replay.

1977: Rangers draw 0-0 with Hibs in Edinburgh.

1980: Derek Johnstone scores 3 minutes from time to give Rangers a 1-0 win over Dundee Utd in the Scottish Cup 4th Round at Ibrox. The Light Blues progressed to play Hearts in the Quarter-Final.

1985: John Brown grabs the winner as Rangers are beaten 1-0 at home by Dundee in the Scottish Cup 4th Round. The Gers had Ian Redford and Robert Prytz sent-off.

1988: Rangers finally sign Ian Ferguson from St Mirren, for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £800,000.

1991: Ally McCoist and Mark Hateley are on target in Rangers’ 2-0 defeat of Motherwell at Ibrox.

1998: Dick Advocaat is confirmed as the man to replace Walter Smith as Rangers Manager, taking up the reins prior to the start of season 1998/99.

2002: A goal each from Russell Latapy, Tore Andre Flo and Fernando Ricksen hands Rangers a 3-0 victory over Motherwell at Ibrox.

2013: Andy Little and David Templeton score twice each as Rangers ease to a 4-1 win at Clyde.

2016: Rangers defeat Kilmarnock 2-1 at Rugby Park in the Scottish Cup 5th Round Replay. Martyn Waghorn put the visitors in-front but a late winner from Nicky Clark was required to set-up a Quarter-Final with Dundee.

2019: Rangers are held to a 0-0 draw at home by St Johnstone.

1890: The goalscorer remains unknown as Rangers suffer an 8-1 loss to Everton in a Friendly at Anfield. On the same day, Ibrox hosted the Scottish Cup Final for the first time. The match between Queen’s Park and Vale of Leven ended 1-1, forcing a Replay to be scheduled for the following week, also at Ibrox.

1896: Goals from Alec Smith and Hugh McCreadie aren’t enough to prevent Rangers from exiting the Scottish Cup with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Hibs in the Quarter-Final. The Gers had missed 2 penalties during the match. Light Blues Goalkeeper John Bell blamed himself so much for the defeat that he changed without speaking to anyone and left the Ground, never to return.

1908: George Livingstone and John McDonald are on target as Rangers are held to a 2-2 draw by Hamilton in a League match at Douglas Park.

1913: John Goodwin and Robert Parker get the goals as Rangers beat Hamilton 2-0 in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round Replay. The Gers progressed to face Falkirk in the 3rd Round.

1928: Rangers draw 3-3 with St Mirren at Love Street. The visitors found themselves 2-0 down after 26 minutes although eventually hit back through Dr Jimmy Marshall on 51 minutes. Goals from Any Cunningham and Sandy Archibald on 80 and 85 minutes respectively looked to have secured all 3 points for the Light Blues although they did have to settle for a draw in the end.

1931: Jimmy Smith hits 5 as Rangers thrash Clyde 8-0 at Shawfield. Davie Meiklejohn, Dr Jimmy Marshall and Bob McPhail were also on target.

1942: Rangers beat Hamilton 6-0 at Ibrox with goals scored by Willie Waddell, David Marshall, Jock Shaw, Jimmy Smith and Alex Beattie (2).

1948: A Willie Thornton hat-trick sees Rangers take a narrow 3-2 victory against St Mirren at Ibrox.

1953: A Cowie OG levels for Rangers as they can only draw 1-1 with Dundee at Dens Park.

1959: Rangers beat Hearts 3-2 in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round. An Andy Matthew double and a Kirk OG sets-up a 3rd Round clash with Celtic.

1962: Rangers exit the European Cup at the Quarter-Final stage despite a 2-0 win at Ibrox over Standard Liege in the 2nd Leg. Ralph Brand opened the scoring before Eric Caldow netted from the penalty spot in the last minute. The home side had to do it without Willie Henderson who had arrived late at the Stadium, claiming he had been held up in traffic. Surprisingly, the Gers went out 4-3 on aggregate.

1976: Rangers beat Aberdeen 4-1 in the Scottish Cup 4th Round thanks to goals from Derek Johnstone, Alex MacDonald, Derek Parlane and Martin Henderson. The Gers would play Queen of the South in the Quarter-Final.

1981: Colin McAdam and Ian Redford (2) are on target as Rangers draw 3-3 at St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup 4th Round.

1986: Craig Paterson, Dougie Bell and Hugh Burns all score as Rangers beat Chelsea 3-2 in a Friendly at Ibrox.

1987: Ally McCoist scores a hat-trick as Rangers defeat St Mirren 3-1 at Love Street. Kenny McDowall was on the scoresheet for the home side.

1998: Marco Negri and Gordon Durie are on the mark in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Motherwell in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup.

1999: Rangers cruise to a 6-0 victory over Hamilton in the Scottish Cup 4th Round courtesy of goals from Jonatan Johansson (2), Jorg Albertz, Tony Vidmar, Andrei Kanchelskis and Neil McCann. The Ibrox men would meet Falkirk in the Quarter-Final.

2004: Frank de Boer scores an 87th minute equaliser as Rangers draw 1-1 with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

2007: Nacho Novo is on target as Rangers go down 2-1 to Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the UEFA Cup Last 32 1st Leg, in Israel.

2010: Goals from Steven Whittaker, Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller sees Rangers secure a 3-0 win at home over Hibs.

2012: Duff and Phelps are appointed as Administrators of Rangers Football Club Plc.
