1974: Rangers are beaten 2-0 by Gothenburg whilst on Tour in Sweden.

1987: Rangers are defeated 5-0 by FC Zurich in the 3rd match of their Swiss Tour.

1990: Rangers sign a deal with Top Man that would see 19 of its Scottish stores stock Club merchandise.

2003: Rangers snap up Zurab Khizanishvili on a Free Transfer from Dundee.

2004: Rangers start their tour of Germany with a 4-0 win over Furstenfeld thanks to goals from Ross McCormack, Nacho Novo (2) and Peter Lovenkrands.

2010: Rangers begin pre-season with a 1-0 win over Queen of the South in a testimonial match for Jim Thomson. Kenny Miller scored the only goal of the game.

2015: Andy Halliday joins Rangers on a Free Transfer from Bradford.

1938: Rangers sign Jock Shaw from Airdrie. In the next 16 years, “Tiger” would help the Club to 4 Scottish Leagues, 7 Wartime Titles, 3 Scottish Cups and 2 League Cups before retiring.

1978: John Greig takes his first training session as Rangers Manager. A notable absence was Derek Johnstone who was stranded in Ibiza after Flights were affected by strike action. Derek Parlane, who had earlier handed in a transfer request, had settled his differences with the Club.

1998: Gordon Durie and Jorg Albertz get the goals as Rangers defeat Falkirk 2-0 in a Friendly.

1999: Rangers hammer Follese FK 10-0 courtesy of goals from Craig Moore, Michael Mols, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Rod Wallace, Jonatan Johansson, Gabriel Amato (3) and Gordon Durie (2).

2001: Goals from Tore Andre Flo, Claudio Caniggia and Neil McCann hand Rangers a 3-1 Friendly win over Malmo.

2002: Rangers beat Reading Rage 4-1 in a Friendly with goals coming from Tore Andre Flo, Barry Ferguson (2) and Shota Arveladze.

2004: Stefan Klos is named as the new Rangers Captain. The armband had previously been held by Craig Moore who had had the Captaincy stripped following a dispute with Manager Alex McLeish.

2006: Rangers’ tour of South Africa is completed with a 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

2007: Rangers conclude their 3-match tour of Germany with a 1-0 loss to Hannover 96.

2009: Barry Ferguson leaves Rangers and seals a £1.2 million switch to Birmingham City.

2010: Rangers sell Kevin Thomson to Middlesbrough for £2 million.

2013: Lee McCulloch scores the only goal as Rangers beat Gutersloh 1-0 in a Friendly in Germany.

1974: Ally Scott is on target as Rangers kick-off their pre-season tour of Sweden with a 2-1 defeat to Malmo.

1987: Rangers continue their pre-season tour of Switzerland with a 6-0 win over SR Delemont. A Robert Fleck hat-trick, 2 goals from Ally McCoist and 1 from John McGregor saw Rangers ease to victory.

1997: Brian Laudrup and Marco Negri score as Rangers are beaten 3-2 by Everton at Goodison Park in a Testimonial match for Dave Watson.

1998: Rangers sign Rod Wallace from Leeds on a free transfer. A deal is also agreed to bring Lionel Charbonnier to Ibrox from Auxerre for £1.2 million. On the same day, UEFA announce that the away leg of Rangers’ UEFA Cup tie with Shelbourne had been moved from Dublin to Prenton Park, home of Tranmere Rovers.

2000: Rangers thump Alphense Boys 12-0 in a Friendly thanks to goals from Allan Johnston (5), Barry Ferguson (3), Neil McCann, Andrei Kanchelskis (2) and Kenny Miller.

2003: 2 Steven Thompson goals sees Rangers kick-off pre-season with a 2-0 win over Greuther Furth.

2005: Peter Lovenkrands and Ross McCormack are on target as Rangers beat Linfield 2-0 in a Friendly at Windsor Park.

2008: 2 goals from Kris Boyd and 1 from John Fleck sees Rangers come from 1-0 down to claim victory against Sportfreunde Lotte in the 2nd match of their Tour of Germany.

2009: Andy Wesbter moves to Dundee Utd from Rangers on a season-long loan.

2011: Rangers defeat Linfield 4-1 in a match that marked the 125th anniversary of the Belfast Blues. Goals from Juan-Manuel Ortiz, Nikica Jelavic, Kane Hemmings and Steven Naismith handed the Gers a win.

2014: Rangers confirm the termination of Scott Gallacher’s contract with the Club. The Goalkeeper later agrees to sign for Hearts.

2016: Goals from James Tavernier and Martyn Waghorn help Rangers to a 2-0 win over Motherwell in the first match of the new-look League Cup at Fir Park.  The win saw the Gers take top position in Group F.

1973: Alfie Conn joins Tottenham Hotspur from Rangers for £140,000.

1981: The modernisation of Ibrox is continued with the finishing touches put to the Stadium’s new under-soil heating system. The £80,000 project consisted of laying a network of pipes, a total of 24 miles in length, 9 inches below the playing surface.

1987: Rangers kick-off pre-season with the beginning of their Swiss tour. The Light Blues defeat Solothurn 4-1 with goals scored by Ally McCoist, Graham Roberts, Neil Woods and Ian Durrant.

1993: Rangers secure a deal to sign Duncan Ferguson from Dundee Utd for a British record £4 million.

1996: Rangers sign Jorg Albertz from Hamburg for £4 million. Joachim Bjorklund is also recruited from Vincenza for £1.7 million.

1998: Rangers secure the signature of Andrei Kanchelskis from Fiorentina at a cost of a Club record £5.5 million.

2000: Rangers beat HZW Hogeveen 5-1 in a Friendly courtesy of goals from Billy Dodds (2), Jorg Albertz (2) and Andrei Kanchelskis.

2001: Rangers draw 1-1 with Copenhagen in a Friendly at Parken Stadium. Christian Nerlinger had given Rangers the lead.

2006: Rangers recruit Makhtar N’Diaye on a Free Transfer from Yverdon-Sport.

2007: Rangers continue their tour of Germany with a 4-2 win over SV Lippstadt. Filip Sebo and Nacho Novo grab a goal each before Lee McCulloch nets a brace. 15-year-old John Fleck makes his Rangers debut.

2008: The Rangers Ladies team is launched following a partnership with Paisley City Ladies FC. The Gers would take their place in the Scottish Women’s First Division.

2014: Rangers begin their North American tour with a 3-1 loss to Ventura County Fusion. Bilel Mohsni pulls a goal back with under 10 minutes left on the clock.

2015: David Templeton and Jason Holt score to give Rangers a 2-0 win over Ayr Utd in a Friendly at Auchenhowie. On the same day, Jordan Thompson joins the Light Blues on a Free Transfer from Manchester Utd.

1923: Sir John Ure Primrose resigns as Chairman of Rangers. The notable Liberal Unionist politician, who had been appointed in 1912 on an interim (!) basis, would be replaced by William Craig.

1951: Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Aberdeen in the 1st Round of the St Mungo Cup. Willie Findlay grabbed the goal for the Gers.  The one-off football tournament was held as part of the Festival of Britain, celebrating the UK’s contribution to arts, technology, science and industrial design.

1998: Rangers defeat St Mirren 2-0 in a Friendly at Love Street with goals from Jorg Albertz and David Graham.

1999: Rangers continue pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Sogndal Voss courtesy of goals from Rod Wallace and Gio van Bronckhorst.

2003: Lorenzo Amoruso sign for Blackburn Rovers in a £1.4 million deal from Rangers.

2006: Goals from Kris Boyd and Gavin Rae saw Rangers continue their South African Tour with a 2-0 win over the Jomo Cosmos.

1993: Rangers sell Gary McSwegan to Notts County for £400,000.

2000: Rangers beat Quick 1920 KV 6-0 in a Friendly thanks to goals from Barry Ferguson (2), Michael Mols, Jonathon Johansson (2) and Kenny Miller.

2002: Rangers are beaten 3-2 by River Plate, in the 2nd match of their New Jersey tour. Shota Arveladze and Lorenzo Amoruso were on the scoresheet for the Gers at Giants Stadium. The Light Blues also had Arthur Numan sent-off.

2007: Rangers kick-off their Tour of Germany with a 3-0 defeat of Gutersloh. Andy Webster, Kris Boyd and Chris Burke all grabbed a goal each for the Gers.

2008: Rangers start pre-season with the first match of their German Tour, a 1-0 win over Preussen Munster. Charlie Adam netted a penalty for the Light Blues.

2011: Rangers wrap up their tour of Germany with a 2-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. The Light Blues had lost all 3 games in Germany and hadn’t managed to find the net at all.

2013: Rangers defeat Bristol City 1-0 for the Blackthorn Cup. Lewis Macleod scored the only goal on 63 minutes.

1941: Rangers are beaten 3-2 by Hibs in the Final of the inaugural Summer Cup. Torry Gillick and Willie McIntosh had Rangers 2 ahead inside 22 minutes. Rangers would reach each of the 3 Finals of the Wartime Competition but won the Trophy just once.

1982: Sandy Jardine leaves Rangers to join former teammate Alex MacDonald at Hearts in a player-coach role.

1999: Despite Jorg Albertz putting the Light Blues ahead, Rangers are beaten 2-1 by St Mirren in a Friendly at Love Street.

2000: Michael Mols, Rod Wallace and Jorg Albertz scored to give Rangers a 3-1 Friendly win over FC Bocholt.

2005: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Dinamo Zagreb in their 2nd and final match in Toronto, Canada.
