The original tie had been marred by severe weather, and although conditions on that front improved markedly, the two sides still couldn’t be separated, having to fight out a 2nd Replay the following week.

1904: Rangers suffer a 3-0 defeat to Hibs in the Inter-City League at Easter Road.

1908: RG Campbell nets a hat-trick as Rangers thrash Port Glasgow 5-1 in a League fixture at Ibrox. John May and John McDonald were also on the scoresheet for the Gers.

1914: James Logan and Alex Bennett get the goals as Rangers defeat Third Lanark 2-0 at Ibrox in the penultimate League fixture.

1924: Tully Craig grabs the goals as Rangers are beaten 3-1 by Clyde at Shawfield.

1925: Sandy Archibald gets the first half equaliser for Rangers in a 1-1 draw away at Motherwell.

1927: Jimmy Fleming scores the only goal after 9 minutes for Rangers in their 1-0 victory over Celtic at Parkhead, putting the Light Blues within touching distance of another Scottish League title.

1931: Rangers beat Hibs 1-0 at Ibrox. Jimmy Smith grabbed the decisive goal after just 10 minutes.

1936: Rangers set a new club record winning their 3rd consecutive Scottish Cup, this time with a 1-0 triumph over Third Lanark in the Final at Hampden. Bob McPhail scored the all-important goal after just 90 seconds. The Gers were more or less restricted to playing with 10 men when Jimmy Fiddes was injured and essentially reduced to a passenger after 15 minutes.

1938: Bob McPhail levels the scores 13 minutes from time in Rangers’ 1-1 with Partick Thistle at Firhill.

1949: A goal each from Billy Williamson, George Young and Willie Waddell secures a 3-1 win for Rangers over Albion Rovers at Ibrox.

1956: Alex Scott nets the winning goal on 63 minutes as Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Ibrox.

1959: Requiring a single point from their final game to win the League championship, Rangers are defeated 2-1 at Ibrox by relegation-threatened Aberdeen. The Gers had actually gone ahead through Ralph Brand. Assuming the title has slipped their grasp, the Rangers fans left Ibrox feeling dejected and even booed the players off the park. Eventually, the remarkable news came through of a Celtic win over Hearts at Parkhead. The result meant that Rangers were still 2 points ahead of the Edinburgh side, and therefore crowned Champions for the 31st time.

1960: Rangers are beaten 2-0 at home by Motherwell.

1964: 2nd Half goals from John Greig, Ralph Brand, Jimmy Millar (2) and George McLean sees Rangers come from behind to defeat Motherwell 5-1 at Ibrox.

1970: Rangers conclude their season with a 2-0 loss to Morton at Ibrox in the final League fixture of the season. The Gers finished the campaign in 2nd, 12 points behind Celtic.

1989: Rangers defeat St Johnstone 4-0 at Parkhead in the Replay of the Scottish Cup Semi-Final. Mark Walters, Gary Stevens, Kevin Drinkell and Ally McCoist set-up a Final with Celtic.

1992: Rangers secure their 4th successive League title with a 4-0 victory over St Mirren at Ibrox. An Ally McCoist brace and goals from Gary Stevens and Pieter Huistra made sure of the Championship with 3 matches to spare.

1999: Tony Vidmar equalises in Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Dundee at Tannadice.

2010: Rangers defeat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox, leaving the Light Blues one win away from the League title. Kyle Lafferty and Kenny Miller got the goals.

2015: A Ryan Hardie double and a goal from Haris Vuckic sees Rangers come from 1-0 down to win 3-1 away at Dumbarton.

1897: Rangers are beaten 1-0 in a Friendly by Millwall Athletic at the Athletic Grounds in London.

1909: Rangers draw 1-1 with Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final, at Hampden. Jimmy Gordon scored to put the Gers in-front against the League Champions on 20 minutes, a lead the Gers would defend until the 66th minute when Quinn equalised. The final whistle went and the score was still 1-1 but there was almighty confusion over what would happen next. There had been much controversy over the SFA rules which stipulated that Extra-Time would only be played after a 2nd Replay. This had been stoked in the week between the Final and the Replay by many media outlets claiming that Extra-Time was to be played in case of a draw. Some even predicted a draw, not so subtly suggesting that there would be collaboration between the sides to force spectators to pay admission for a 3rd match. At the end of the Replay, some players made their way to the pavilion while others stayed on the park, obviously unsure whether the match was to continue. When it became clear that there would be no further action, the fans’ anger turned violent with both sets of supporters beginning to riot. Toll booths were smashed up and set alight, and when the fire brigade arrived, their hoses were cut to pieces. The Trophy and the match takings had escaped to a nearby house, and the decision was made shortly afterwards by the SFA, with the backing of both Rangers and Celtic, that the Scottish Cup would be withheld for that season.

1915: Rangers draw 1-1 with Notts County in a benefit match for Alec Smith, at Ibrox. Smith had put the Gers ahead with a penalty. The “Darvel Marvel” made 481 appearances for the Gers between 1894 and 1915.

1916: Rangers draw 1-1 with St Mirren in a League match at Love Street. Dr Jimmy Paterson’s had given the visitors the lead. The Light Blues were forced to play most of the game with 10 men after Jimmy Bowie was forced off with injury.

1920: A goal each from Andy Cunningham, Geordie Henderson and Tommy Muirhead earns Rangers a 3-1 victory over Queen’s Park at Ibrox.

1922: A Carl Hansen double sees Rangers come from behind to defeat Queen’s Park 2-1 at Ibrox.

1924: Rangers beat Forfar 3-2 in a Friendly at Station Park courtesy of goals from Tommy Cairns, Tully Craig and Davie Meiklejohn.

1929: Rangers beat Motherwell 4-2 at Fir Park thanks to an Alan Morton double and goals from Bob McPhail and Tully Craig.

1940: Rangers defeat Ayr Utd 3-1 in a Western Division fixture at Ibrox. An Ian McPherson double and a goal from Jimmy Smith seals a victory for the home side. Rangers’ Chris McNee also suffered a broken leg.

1948: Rangers draw 1-1 with Morton in-front of a 131,975 crowd at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final. Torry Gillick equalised for the Gers on the 12th minute.

1950: Jimmy Duncanson nets the winner on the hour mark to give Rangers a 1-0 win against Dundee at Dens Park.

1954: Despite going ahead through Willie Paton, Rangers are beaten 3-1 at home by Aberdeen.

1974: John Greig levels up as Rangers draw 1-1 with Aberdeen at Pittodrie. The Dons went ahead after an Iain McDougall OG.

1976: Rangers defeat Ayr Utd 2-1 at Ibrox. Alex MacDonald equalised before Derek Parlane grabbed the winner.

1982: John McDonald scores the only goal of the game as Rangers beat Airdrie 1-0 at Broomfield.
