1884: Rangers thump Kilmarnock Athletic 9-1 in a Friendly thanks to goals from Alick McKenzie (2), James Gossland (2), Peter Morton (3), Matthew Lawrie and Willie Pringle.

1890: Rangers defeat Renton 4-1 in a League match. Goals from Donald Gow, John McPherson, David Hislop and Neil Kerr earned Rangers the victory. This result was later declared void when Renton were expelled from the League for Professionalism.

1902: Bobby Nail, James Stark and RC Hamilton are on the scoresheet as Rangers defeat Port Glasgow at Clune Park.

1905: Archie Kyle (2) and James Steel are the only known goalscorers from Rangers’ 5-2 win over Dundee in Fred McDiarmid’s benefit match.

1913: Willie Reid scores the only goal as Rangers beat Hamilton 1-0 at Douglas Park.

1919: 2 goals from James Bowie and 1 each from Tommy Muirhead and Tommy Cairns hands Rangers a 4-0 win over St Mirren at Love Street.

1920: Alex Laird scores twice as Rangers defeat Celtic 2-1 in a benefit match for Light Blues Full-Back Bert Manderson.

1924: Rangers draw 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Ibrox. Geordie Henderson had put the Light Blues in-front.

1930: Dr James Marshall is the Rangers goalscorer in their 1-1 draw with Motherwell.

1941: Rangers hammer Airdrie 6-1 thanks to a Torry Gillick hat-trick, 2 goals from Jimmy Smith and 1 from Willie McIntosh.

1947: Rangers are beaten 2-0 by Celtic in Section C of the League Cup.

1949: Jimmy Duncanson is on target as Rangers draw 1-1 with St Mirren in the League Cup Section A.

1950: Rangers are defeated 2-0 by Aberdeen in Section D of the League Cup.

1952: Rangers wrap up their League Cup Section C fixtures with a 2-1 win over Aberdeen. 2 goals in the last 20 minutes from Willie Waddell and Willie Thornton hand Rangers the win. The Gers progressed from the Section and would meet Third Lanark in the Quarter-Final.

1958: A Max Murray hat-trick earns Rangers a 3-0 win over Third Lanark in their final match of the League Cup Section 1. The Ibrox side failed to qualify from the Section.

1961: Rangers draw 1-1 with Dundee in the League Cup Section 3. Ralph Brand equalised on the half-hour mark.

1967: Despite Willie Henderson giving Rangers the lead, 3 goals in the last 12 minutes sees the Light Blues go down 3-1 to Celtic in the League Cup Section 2.

1969: Rangers kick-off their League fixtures with a 0-0 draw away at Dundee Utd.

1972: Rangers conclude their fixtures in Section 3 of the League Cup with a 2-1 win over Ayr Utd. Willie Johnston opened the scoring before Derek Johnstone grabbed the winner. The Ibrox men progressed from the Section and were to face Stenhousemuir in the 2nd Round.

1975: Rangers begin their fixtures in the inaugural Premier Division with a 2-1 victory over Celtic. 2nd half goals from Derek Johnstone and Quinton Young saw the Gers come from 1 down to claim victory. Rangers also had Alex MacDonald sent-off.

1978: A goal each from Davie Cooper, Tommy McLean and Gordon Smith gives Rangers a 3-0 win over Forfar in the League Cup 2nd Round 1st Leg. Sandy Jardine also missed a penalty.

1980: Rangers defeat Forfar 3-1 in the 2nd Leg of their League Cup 2nd Round tie. Goals from Alex Miller, Derek Johnstone and Colin McAdam earn the Light Blues a 5-1 aggregate win and moved on to play Aberdeen in the 3rd Round. Sandy Jardine missed a penalty and a retake.

1989: Rangers secure their place in the League Cup Semi-Final with a 3-0 win over Hamilton. A Mark Walters double and a goal from Trevor Steven sets-up a clash with Dunfermline.

1995: Mark Hateley, Stuart McCall and Ally McCoist are all on target as Rangers beat Stirling Albion 3-2 in the 3rd Round of the League Cup. The Gers were drawn to face Celtic in the Quarter-Final.

2000: Rangers complete the signing of Ronald de Boer from Barcelona for £4.5 million.

2002: Tore Andre Flo departs Rangers for Sunderland in a £6.75 million deal. Andrei Kancshelskis joins Southampton on a Free Transfer after his Light Blues contract expires.

2003: Rangers sign Egil Ostenstad on a Free Transfer from Blackburn.

2005: Rangers sign Sotirios Kygriakos from Panathinaikos on a Free Transfer.

2009: Rangers agree to terminate the loan of Aaron Niguez, allowing the youngster to join Celta Vigo from Valencia.

2012: 2 goals from Lee McCulloch and 1 from Andy Little seal a 3-0 win for Rangers over Falkirk in the League Cup 2nd Round. The Gers were paired with Motherwell in the 3rd Round.

2014: Rangers beat Queen of the South 4-2 at Ibrox with goals scored by Marius Zaliukas, David Templeton, Bilel Mohsni and Kenny Miller.

2015: Andy Halliday, Martyn Waghorn (2 pens), Barrie McKay and Jason Holt score in Rangers’ 5-1 drubbing of Queen of the South.
