1878: Rangers draw 0-0 in a Friendly with Vale of Leven at Kinning Park.

1879: Rangers win their first ever Trophy with a 2-1 win in the Glasgow Merchants’ Charity Cup Final over Vale of Leven. William Struthers is the only known Rangers goalscorer. There was still some bad feeling between the 2 sets of players following the previous month’s Scottish Cup Final where Rangers refused to participate in a Replay, so incensed at a disallowed goal. Fist fights broke out throughout the match.

1893: Goals from John McPherson, James Davie and Neil Kerr give Rangers a 3-2 1st Round win over Third Lanark in the Glasgow Charity Cup. The Gers would meet Celtic in the Final.

1896: Rangers draw 3-3 with Clyde in a Friendly. Sadly, the goalscorers remain unknown.

1944: After a 0-0 draw, Rangers are defeated 6-5 on Corners by Hibs in the Southern League Cup Final. Jerry Dawson suffered a broken leg after quarter of an hour, all but ending the Prince’s Rangers career. The Light Blues had won each of the 3 previous competitions.

1956: Rangers kick off a Tour of Spain with a 1-1 draw against Valencia. Billy Simpson was on target for the Scots.

1963: Jim Baxter and Ralph Brand score for Rangers as they draw 2-2 with Arsenal in a Testimonial match for Jack Kelsey.

1968: Rangers start their Scandinavian Tour with a 4-1 win over the Danish side BK Frem. Ronnie McKinnon, Andy Penman, Billy Semple and Willie Henderson all scored a goal each for the Ibrox Club.

1989: Rangers miss out on a Treble when they are beaten 1-0 by Celtic in the Final of the Scottish Cup.

2001: Rangers wrap up their League fixtures with a 4-0 win over Hibs thanks to goals from Jorg Albertz, Ronald de Boer (2) and Tony Vidmar. The Gers ended a disappointing season in 2nd place, 15 points off winners Celtic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt18Vbd–LU

2007: Rangers conclude their League fixtures programme with a 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen. The Light Blues were 12 points off the pace of Celtic at the top of the Table.

2015: Goals from Nicky Clark and Kenny Miller give Rangers a 2-0 win over Hibs in the 1st Leg of their SPFL Premiership Play-Off Semi-Final at Ibrox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wpFNymECDs
