1884: Rangers draw 0-0 with Third Lanark in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round Replay. Both teams went into the draw for the next Round and coincidentally, were drawn against each other! Previously, Thirds had protested to the SFA that Rangers had fielded a professional player and once more there was controversy as the Light Blues line-up included Archie Steel of Bolton Wanderers. Safe to say, the relationship between the 2 teams wasn’t the best, with a brawl breaking out during the match.

1890: Tom Wylie and Hugh McCreadie are the only known Rangers goalscorers from their 4-2 Friendly victory over Methlan Park.

1902: Rangers thump Morton 4-0 courtesy of goals from John Robertson, RC Hamilton and Angus McDonald (2).

1919: A goal each from Jimmy Gordon and Sandy Archibald earns Rangers a 2-1 win over Raith at Stark’s Park.

1924: Andy Cunningham scores both goals for Rangers who draw 2-2 with Cowdenbeath at Central Park.

1930: Jimmy Smith is on the scoresheet as Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Celtic in the Final of the Glasgow Cup.

1933: Rangers secure their place in the Final of the Glasgow Cup with a 2-1 1st Round Replay win over Celtic. Dr James Marshall equalised for the Gers before Alec Stevenson scored an 88th minute winner. The Gers would face Clyde in the Final.

1941: Rangers hammer Dumbarton 7-0 thanks to goals from Jock Shaw, David Marshall, George Thomson (2), Willie McIntosh and Torry Gillick (2).

1947: Rangers lose out 1-0 to Falkirk in the League Cup Semi-Final.

1952: Rangers are defeated 2-1 by Hibs at Ibrox. Derek Grierson had put the home side in-front.

1958: George Duncan and Ralph Brand are on target as Rangers beat St Mirren 2-1 at Ibrox.

1961: Rangers come from 2-0 down at half-time to beat St Johnstone 3-2 in the League Cup Semi-Final. Goals from Davie Wilson and Eric Caldow took the tie to extra-time before Wilson scored again to set-up a Final with Hearts.

1972: Derek Parlane grabs the leveller for Rangers as they draw 1-1 with St Johnstone in the League Cup Quarter-Final 1st Leg.

1975: Rangers are defeated 3-0 by Ayr Utd at Somerset Park.

1978: Rangers draw 0-0 with St Mirren in the League Cup 3rd Round 2nd Leg. The Gers progress 3-2 on aggregate to play Arbroath in the Quarter-Final.

1980: A Colin McAdam brace and an OG from Jeffries gives Rangers a 3-1 win over Hearts at Ibrox. Alex MacDonald was on the scoresheet for the Jambos.

1986: A goal each from Dave McPherson, Robert Fleck and Dougie Bell hands Rangers a 3-0 win over Hibs at Ibrox.

2001: Rangers announce a deal with software developer Akaei that would see the production of an official Club video game, Rangers Football Coach.
