1875: Moses McNeil scores for Rangers who are beaten 2-1 by Third Lanark in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round Replay. The Gers had won the original tie but a Replay was ordered as they had kicked-off both halves. The Replay also carried controversy. Rangers appealed to the SFA afterwards that Third Lanark’s Goalkeeper had played in ordinary street clothes and so was indistinguishable from the crowd. They also claimed that Thirds first goal was scored with a hand and also that the Crowd had spilled onto the park causing the match to be abandoned 7 minutes from time. The appeal fell on deaf ears.

1880: Rangers thump Clyde 11-0 in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup. William Struthers, George Angus, Willie Pringle and James Steel are the only known goalscorers. The Light Blues would face Hurlford in the 5th Round.

The Gers completed a 9-1 aggregate victory and would meet DWS Amsterdam in the 3rd Round.

1971: Rangers are beaten 3-2 at home by Dundee. Willie Johnston pulled 2 goals back but the Dee’s were 3 up after 19 minutes.
