1887: 2 goals from Willie White and 1 each from Robert Brand and Matthew Lawrie hands Rangers a 4-0 win over Battlefield in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. The Gers would meet Partick Thistle in the 2n Round.

1892: Rangers defeat Dumbarton 3-2 in a League match. D.Bruce grabbed a double with John Barker also on target.

1894: Sadly, the goalscorers are unknown from Rangers’ 1-1 Friendly draw away at Sunderland.

1898: Rangers beat Hearts 3-2 at Tynecastle. RC Hamilton (2) and James Wilkie got the goals. George Livingstone was on target for the home side.

1900: Jacky Robertson scores from the penalty spot as Rangers draw 1-1 with Sunderland in a Friendly at Ibrox.

1904: Rangers thump Partick Thistle 8-1 with goals scored by James Stark, Finlay Speedie (3), Archie Kyle (2) and RC Hamilton (2).

1910: Willie Reid is the Rangers scorer in their 2-1 defeat away at Dundee.

1921: A goal each from Andy Cunningham and Tommy Cairns earns Rangers a 2-1 win over St Mirren at Love Street.

1927: Jimmy Fleming and Bob McPhail score twice each as Rangers defeat St Johnstone 5-1 at Ibrox. Alan Morton is also on the scoresheet for the Light Blues.

1929: Sandy Archibald scores the only goal on the hour mark as Rangers beat Queen’s Park at Ibrox.

1932: Rangers ease past East Stirling 4-0 thanks to a Jimmy Smith hat-trick and a goal from Bob McPhail.

1938: Goals from Bob McPhail (2), George Brown and Willie Thornton hands Rangers a 4-1 victory over Ayr Utd.

1949: Rangers complete their League Cup Section A fixtures with a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen. Willie Findlay is on the scoresheet for the Gers. The Ibrox side progressed and would face Cowdenbeath in the Quarter-Final.

1953: Rangers thump Celtic 4-0 in the Replay of the Glasgow Cup Semi-Final. Goals from Derek Grierson, Willie Paton (2) and John Prentice set-up a Final with Third Lanark.

1955: Rangers hammer Queen of the South 6-0 in the last match of the League Cup Section A thanks to goals from Norman Arnison (2), Johnny Hubbard, Billy Simpson and Alex Scott (2). Hamilton would be Rangers’ opponents in the Quarter-Final.

1960: Rangers round off their League Cup Section 2 fixtures with a 2-1 win over Celtic. Harold Davis equalised for the Light Blues with Ralph Brand grabbing the winner. The Gers moved on and would meet Dundee in the Quarter-Final.

1966: Jim Forrest scores the only goal of the game as Rangers defeat Kilmarnock in the final match of the League Cup Section 2. The Ibrox men secured their Quarter-Final place where they’d face Ayr.

1969: 2 goals in the last 15 minutes from Davie Provan and Colin Stein earns Rangers a 2-0 home win over Aberdeen.

1977: Derek Parlane, Alex Miller and Gordon Smith all score as Rangers beat St Johnstone 3-0 in the League Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Gers won 6-1 on aggregate and would meet Aberdeen in the 3rd Round.

1980: Colin McAdam scores the only goal after 44 seconds as Rangers defeat Aberdeen 1-0 in the 1st Round of their League Cup 3rd Round tie.

1983: Despite going ahead inside 27 seconds through Ally McCoist, Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Celtic at Parkhead.

1986: Rangers secure their Semi-Final place in the League Cup with an Extra-Time 3-1 win over Dundee. Goals from Cammy Fraser, Graeme Souness and Ted McMinn set-up a clash with Dundee Utd.

1988: Kevin Drinkell and Ian Durrant score to give Rangers a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park.

2016: Rangers thrash Linfield 7-0 in a testimonial match for Jamie Mulgrew. Kenny Miller scores 4 with Niko Kranjcar, Rob Kiernan and Joe Garner also on the mark. The match included a 20-minute spell, where the Light Blues found the net 5 times, including a hat-trick for Miller.
