1878: Sandy Marshall is the only known Rangers goalscorer from their 5-4 Friendly defeat to Govan.

1889: The goalscorers remain untraced as Rangers are beaten 3-2 in a Friendly by Morton.

1895: 2 goals from Thomas Miller and 1 each from John McPherson and Alec Smith earns Rangers a 4-3 League win over St Bernard’s.

1897: RC Hamilton scores 7 times as Rangers defeat Stenhousemuir 13-0 in a Friendly. Alec Smith (2), Tommy Low (2), Tommy Hyslop and Robert Glen were also on target.

1901: Rangers thump Normal Athletic 5-0 in the 1st Round of the Glasgow Cup. Sadly, history does not recall the goalscorers as the Gers move on to face Partick Thistle in the Semi-Final.

1907: RG Campbell and George Livingstone score twice each as Rangers defeat Third Lanark 4-0 in the Glasgow Cup 1st Round. The Light Blues would meet Third Lanark in the Semi-Final.

1912: Rangers beat Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park. Alec Smith equalised for the Gers before Alex Bennett secured the Rangers win.

1918: David McLean nets a brace to hand Rangers a 2-0 win at home to Partick Thistle.

1921: Andy Cunningham scores for Rangers as they go down 2-1 in a Friendly at Newcastle Utd.

1929: A goal each from Dr James Marshall and Sandy Archibald seal a 2-1 victory for Rangers over St Mirren at Ibrox.

1932: Rangers defeat Newcastle 4-1 in the 1st leg of the British Championship. Sam English scores twice at Ibrox with Sandy Archibald and Bob McPhail also on the scoresheet.

1935: Jimmy Smith is the Rangers goalscorer as they draw 1-1 away at Hibs.

1938: Rangers hammer Motherwell 5-0 at Ibrox thanks to a Willie Thornton hat-trick and goals from James Fiddes and Davie Kinnear.

1940: 2 goals in the last 4 minutes from Charlie Johnston and George Hamilton gives Rangers a 2-0 win over Airdrie at Ibrox.

1946: Rangers ease to a 4-0 win over St Mirren at Ibrox. Torry Gillick opened the scoring before Jimmy Duncanson scored a hat-trick. George Young missed a penalty.

1954: Rangers’ legendary Defender Willie Woodburn was banned, sine die, by the SFA. Big Ben, as he was known, was well known to have a short temper, an in it was this that was to cost him the last few years of his career. During a match with Stirling Albion, after a clean tackle, the Albion forward clamped down on Woodburn’s injured leg. As the pair rose to their feet, the big defender headbutted his opponent. The punishment was seen as extremely harsh and was eventually lifted 3 years later, but by that time Woodburn had long given up any hope of returning to the playing field.

1955: Johnny Hubbard and Billy Simpson score as Rangers defeat Hamilton 2-1 in the 1st Leg of their League Cup Quarter-Final.

1957: Rangers earn a crucial 3-1 win over Kilmarnock in the 2nd leg of the League Cup Quarter-Final. Goals form Johnny Hubbard, Alex Scott and Billy Simpson sees Rangers come from 2-1 down in the 1st Leg to take a 4-3 aggregate win. Brechin City would be Rangers’ opponents in the Semi-Final.

1960: Alex Scott scores the decisive goal as Rangers beat Dundee 1-0 in the League Cup Quarter-Final 1st Leg.

1963: Jim Forrest’s hat-trick earns Rangers a 3-0 win over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

1964: Goals from Ralph Brand, Jim Forrest and McLean (OG) hands Rangers a 3-0 win over Dunfermline in the League Cup Quarter-Final 1st Leg.

1966: Rangers draw 1-1 with Ayr Utd in the 1st Leg of their League Cup Quarter-Final. Willie Johnston levelled up for the Gers on 61 minutes.

1968: Rangers defeat Celtic 4-2 at Parkhead thanks to a Willie Johnston brace and goals from Orjan Persson and Andy Penman.

1974: 2nd Half goals from Iain McDougall and Colin Jackson sees Rangers overturn a 1-0 half-time deficit to beat Celtic 2-1 at Parkhead.

1977: Rangers draw 0-0 with FC Twente at Ibrox in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 1st Round 1st Leg.

1983: Rangers thrash Valetta 8-0 in Malta in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 1st Round 1st Leg courtesy of goals from Dave McPherson (4), Craig Paterson, John McDonald and Robert Prytz (2).

1985: Bobby Williamson scores a last minute winner as Rangers leave Kilbowie with a 1-0 win over Clydebank.

1991: Rangers draw 1-1 with Dundee Utd at Ibrox. Ally McCoist had put Rangers in-front but Duncan Ferguson equalised for the Arabs.

1996: Gordon Durie, Paul Gascoigne and Ally McCoist score to earn Rangers a 3-0 home win over Hearts, who decide to play with 7 men. Davie Weir and Paul Ritchie were amongst the 4 sending-offs for the Jambos.

2002: Maurice Ross and Barry Ferguson score in the 2nd half to take a 2-0 win against Livingston.

2004: Chairman David Murray announces a share issue, designed to raise £57 million to tackle the Club’s debt. Murray revealed that he and his Company would underwrite £50 million as he attempted to reduce the £72 million deficit.

2006: Rangers draw 0-0 with Molde in Norway in the UEFA Cup 1st Round 1st Leg.

2010: Rangers open their Champions League Group C fixtures with a 0-0 draw against Man Utd at Old Trafford.

2013: Rangers come from behind to thump Arbroath 5-1 at Ibrox. Goals from Bilel Mohsni, Lee McCulloch (3) and Andy Little secure the 3 points for the Gers.

2019: Rangers defeat Livingston 3-1 at Ibrox thanks to goals from James Tavernier, Alfredo Morelos and Brandon Barker.
