1879: The Rangers players enjoy a day out at Ayr Races, fulfilling their promise not to take part in a Replay in the Scottish Cup Final with Vale of Leven. The Alexandria side had turned up at Hampden but there was no sign of the Light Blues. Rangers had threatened not to appear as they had been so incensed at a disallowed goal in the original tie. The Club’s 2nd Scottish Cup Final ended with Vale of Leven being awarded the Cup.

1887: The goalscorers remain unknown from Rangers’ 4-2 Friendly victory over Shettleston.

1889: Jimmy Oswald scores in Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Blackburn in a Friendly at Ibrox.

1893: Neil Kerr and Andrew McCreadie are on target as Rangers are beaten 6-2 at Ibrox in a Friendly by Sunderland.

1897: Sadly, the goalscorers are untraced from Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Dumbarton Athletic in a Friendly at Ibrox.

1902: Jacky Robertson scores twice as Rangers defeat a Dumfries Select 5-2 in a Friendly at Cathkin Park. The other goalscorers remain unknown.

1909: Goals from Alex Bennett and William McPherson aren’t enough to prevent Rangers from slipping to a 3-2 defeat against Queen’s Park in a League match at Hampden.

1911: Rangers draw 0-0 with Stirlingshire in a Friendly at Brockville.

1913: A goal each from Alex Bennett and John Goodwin sees Rangers round-off their League fixtures with a 2-1 win over Falkirk at Ibrox. The Title had been clinched the previous week and the win meant the Light Blues finished 4 points clear of Celtic in 2nd.

1921: Rangers draw 0-0 at home with Newcastle Utd in a benefit match for Ibrox legend Tommy Cairns.

1924: Rangers complete their League matches with a 0-0 draw away at Airdrie. The Championship had been long since secured and the Ibrox side 9 points clear of the Diamonds in 2nd.

1930: Bob McPhail scores twice as Rangers suffer a 3-2 defeat to Cowdenbeath at Central Park.

1941: Rangers wrap up their Southern League fixtures with a 3-0 home loss to Third Lanark. The inaugural Title had already been secured and the Gers ended the campaign 3 points ahead of 2nd placed Clyde.

1943: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Clyde in the final League match of the season, at Ibrox. Another Southern League Title had been clinched by the Light Blues and the Ibrox men finished 5 points in-front of Morton in 2nd.

1947: Willie Thornton is on the mark as Rangers suffer a 2-1 defeat away in a Friendly against Manchester City.

1948: First half goals from John McPherson and Sammy Cox earns Rangers a 2-1 victory over Clyde at Ibrox.

1954: Derek Grierson and Willie Paton score as Rangers complete their League fixture programme with a 2-2 draw with Hibs at Easter Road. The Gers finished in 4th spot, 9 points off winners Celtic in Bill Struth’s final campaign as Rangers Manager.

1958: Rangers thump Aberdeen 5-0 thanks to a Max Murray hat-trick and a double from Ralph Brand.

1969: Rangers are beaten 4-0 by Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final. This match spelled the end of the Ibrox career of Alex Ferguson, who was thought to be responsible for the first goal and eventually moved to Falkirk, teaming up with former Ger John Prentice as player-coach.

1975: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Airdrie in the final game of the League season at Ibrox. The Light Blues’ first League Title in 11 years had already been tied up and the Gers finished 7 points ahead of runners-up Hibs.

1976: Rangers draw 0-0 with Celtic at Parkhead. The League Title had been clinched by the Ibrox men 2 days previously at Tannadice.

1980: Rangers defeat Dundee Utd 2-1 at Ibrox. Sandy Jardine opened the scoring prior to Tommy McLean netting the winner.

1986: Rangers draw 1-1 with Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Ted McMin had given the visitors the lead on the 50th minute.

1994: Ally McCoist scores as Rangers are defeated 2-1 by Motherwell at Fir Park.

2007: Rangers trounce Celtic 5-0 in the SFA Youth Cup Final at Hampden. A Steven Lennon hat-trick and goals from Andrew Shinnie and Dean Furman saw the Gers ease to victory.

2014: Fraser Aird, Dean Shiels and Arnold Peralta are all on the scoresheet as Rangers wrap up their home League 1 fixtures with a 3-0 victory over Stranraer.

2016: Rangers suffer a 1-0 loss to Livingston at Almondvale.
