1875: The goalscorers are unknown from Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Vale of Leven. This was the very first match that Rangers played on their own ground. For the first 3 years of their existence the Gers had played on public parks before moving and leasing a ground at Burnbank on the Great Western Road. Less than a year later, Rangers would again be on the move, this time to Kinning Park.

1880: Rangers defeat Govan 4-1 in the 1st Round of the Scottish Cup. Sadly, the goalscorers remain untraced. The Gers would meet the Northern in the 2nd Round.

1886: Gray, Andrew Peacock and John Gow are the only known goalscorers from Rangers’ 9-1 thumping of Govan Athletic in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. Westbourne would be the opposition in the 2nd Round.

1897: RC Hamilton’s 1st half goal proves decisive as Rangers defeat Hibs 1-0 in a League encounter.

1900: David Taylor and John McPherson score a goal each to give Rangers a 2-1 Friendly win over East Stirling at Merchiston Park in Bainsford.

1905: RC Hamilton and Tommy Low get the goals to earn Rangers a 2-1 League victory against Hibs at Easter Road.

1909: Rangers secure their place in the Glasgow Cup Semi-Final with a 2-1 win over Partick Thistle. 2 goals from Billy Hogg sets-up a clash with Third Lanark. A James Galt OG had actually put Rangers behind.

1912: Rangers hammer Lochgelly Utd 5-0 in a Friendly thanks to goals from James Galt, Jimmy Gordon, Billy Hogg, Alex Bennett and George Waddell.

1915: 2 goals from Willie Reid and 1 each from Andy Cunningham and Tommy Cairns hands Rangers a 4-1 win over Queen’s Park in the Glasgow Cup 1st Round. The Light Blues moved on to face Partick Thistle in the Semi-Final.

1920: Andy Cunningham scores both goals as Rangers defeat Morton 2-0 in a League fixture at Ibrox.

1926: Rangers defeat Motherwell 2-0 at Ibrox. Andy Cunningham put Rangers in-front inside the first minute before Sandy Archibald doubled the lead 9 minutes from the end.

1928: Rangers beat Celtic 3-0 in a match played as part of the Dunoon Festival. Thomas Lockie scores twice with George McMillan also on the scorehseet.

1929: Rangers draw 1-1 with Kilmarnock in a benefit match for the John McWhinnie Memorial Fund. Jimmy Fleming scored for the Gers.

1935: Bob McPhail and Jimmy Smith score a goal each to hand Rangers a 2-0 win over Queen’s Park in the Glasgow Cup 1st Round. The Gers would meet Clyde in the Semi-Final.

1937: After going into half-time 1-0 down, Rangers come back to defeat Celtic 3-1 at Ibrox. An Alex Venters brace and a goal from Willie Thornton secures the points for the Gers.

1943: A Dr Adam Little OG sees Rangers go down 1-0 to Celtic at Parkhead.

1948: Rangers kick-off their League Cup Section A fixtures with a 1-1 draw at home to Clyde. Willie Findlay had put Rangers ahead on 16 minutes.

1954: Scot Symon takes charge of Rangers for the first time in a League match. Derek Grierson scores for the Gers as they draw 1-1 with Hibs at Ibrox.

1957: Don Kitchenbrand pulls a goal back in the last 7 minutes as Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Kilmarnock in the League Cup Quarter-Final 1st Leg. Eric Caldow also scored an OG.

1963: Rangers leave Bayview with 1-1 draw from the 1st Leg of their League Cup Quarter-Final with East Fife. Jim Forrest gave Rangers a half-time lead.

1965: George McLean is the Rangers scorer as they can only draw 1-1 with Partick Thistle at Firhill.

1971: Rangers are beaten 3-2 by Celtic. Willie Johnston and Colin Stein scored to hand the Gers a 2-1 lead at half-time. The Light Blues had Alfie Conn sent-off.

1976: Rangers draw 0-0 with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

1982: Rangers draw 0-0 with Dundee Utd at Ibrox.

1993: Mark Hateley equalises before missing a penalty as Rangers draw 1-1 at Partick Thistle.

1994: A Mark Hateley double and a goal from Gordon Durie sees Rangers seal a 3-0 win against Hearts at Ibrox.

1996: Rangers are beaten 3-0 in Switzerland by Grasshopper Zurich in the opening fixture of Group A in the Champions League.

1999: Rangers beat Aberdeen 3-0 thanks to a Michael Mols brace and a goal from Jorg Albertz.

2002: Claudio Caniggia and Shota Arveladze are on the scoresheet for Rangers who beat Hearts 2-0 at Ibrox.

2010: Nikica Jelavic marks his first start for Rangers with a goal inside 6 minutes at New Douglas Park against Hamilton. A Madjid Bougherra OG levelled the scores before Kenny Miller netted an injury-time winner for 2-1.

1970: John Spencer – (Glasgow). Rangers: 1986-1993 (Forward). Apps: 20, Goals: 5, Honours: 1 Glasgow Cup, 1991 Forum Cup. International Caps: 14 (Scotland).
