On this day – June 18th

1928: Rangers continue their epic North American Tour with a 2-2 draw against Boston. Dr Jimmy Marshall and Andy Cunningham were on target for the Gers.

1930: A goal each from George Brown, Bob McPhail and Willie Nicholson hand Rangers a 3-1 win over Detroit.

1975: A goal from Derek Parlane and an Alex Miller penalty saw Rangers win 2-1 over South Australia in Adelaide.

1980: Rangers draw 1-1 with Botofogo in the final group game of the Red Leaf Cup. Ian Redford got the goal for the Light Blues who progressed to the Final to face Ascoli.

1997: Rangers secure the signature of Marco Negri who makes a £3.75 million switch from Perugia.

2008: John Greig is awarded an honorary doctorate from Glasgow University for his outstanding achievements in football and role as a great ambassador for the game.

2011: Rangers appoint former player and SFA Chief Executive Gordon Smith as Director of Football.

2013: Stevie Smith re-joins Rangers, signing for free from Portland Timbers.

2018: Jason Holt leaves Rangers to join-up with Joey Barton and Clint Hill at Fleetwood on a season-long loan.
