1883: Billy McGregor, Hugh McHardy, Willie Pringle and Jimmy Gossland are the only known scorers from Rangers’ 5-0 win over Glasgow Thistle in a Friendly.

1894: Rangers defeat Queen’s Park 3-1 in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final Replay. Goals from Nick Smith, John McPherson and James Steel sets-up a Final clash with Celtic. The Gers had to do it without the man who forced the Replay, David Boyd. The Inside-Forward was a ship’s carpenter had fallen some 20 feet into the hold of a ship he was working on, during the week. His injuries were sufficient to keep him out of the Final too. The Light Blues hoped that it would be 3rd time lucky as their only 2 previous appearances in Scottish Cup Finals had ended with the Trophy heading home with Vale of Leven.

1906: Rangers beat Aberdeen 3-2 at Pittodrie in the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup. A Robert Dalrymple brace and a goal from RC Hamilton booked a Quarter-Final tie with Port Glasgow.

1912: Joe Hendry pulls a goal back as Rangers suffer a 3-1 loss away at Clyde in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round. The match had to be abandoned when around 2,000 of the crowd spilled onto the pitch with 15 minutes remaining. Rangers, believing they wouldn’t have clawed back from a 2-goal deficit conceded the tie.

1917: Bert Manderson scores the only goal as Rangers defeat Ayr Utd 1-0 in a League match at Ibrox.

1923: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Airdrie at Broomfield.

1925: Billy McCandless and William Chalmers get the goals as Ranges beat Dundee 2-0 at home.

1926: Andy Cunningham scores a penalty for Rangers who are beaten 2-1 at Ibrox by Aidrie. Bob McPhail grabbed the winner for the visitors.

1940: Alex Venters hits a hat-trick as Rangers run out 6-4 winners at St Mirren. Jimmy Duncanson, Chris McNee and Willie Thornton were also on the scoresheet.

1945: Rangers beat Morton 4-1 thanks to a Jimmy Duncanson double and goals from Alex Venters and Willie Waddell.

1948: Rangers defeat Benfica 3-0 in a Friendly in Lisbon. Willie Thornton opened the scoring before Jimmy Duncanson netted a brace.

1951: 2 goals from Billy Simpson aren’t enough to prevent Rangers from slipping to a 3-2 defeat to Hibs in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round.

1962: A Ralph Brand double and a goal from Alex Scott hands Rangers a 3-1 win over Raith at Stark’s Park.

1968: Rangers beat Dundee 4-2 at Dens Park with goals scored by John Greig, Willie Johnston (2) and Orjan Persson.

1973: Rangers beat Motherwell 2-1 at Ibrox. Quinton Young put the Gers ahead although a winner from Sandy Jardine was necessary on 76 minutes.

1975: Rangers suffer a 2-1 loss AET to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round Replay. Bobby McKean had equalised for the Ibrox side.

1979: Chris Robertson scores the 81st minute winner as Rangers beat Dundee Utd 1-0 at Ibrox.

1988: Rangers thump Raith 4-1 in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round Replay courtesy of goals from Ian Durrant (2), Mark Walters and Ally McCoist. Durrant also missed a penalty.

1990: Mo Johnston equalises as Rangers can only draw 1-1 away at Motherwell.

1996: A goal each from Ian Ferguson, Alan McLaren and Ally McCoist earns Rangers a narrow 3-2 home win against Motherwell.

2010: Kris Boyd scores on the 80th minute as Rangers draw 1-1 with Motherwell at Fir Park.

2017: Mark Waburton resigns as Rangers Manager. Assistant Davie Weir and Head of Recruitment Frank McParland also leave the Club.
