1878: 2 goals from William Struthers and 1 from Willie Dunlop hands Rangers a 3-0 Friendly win over Vale of Leven.

1889: Jimmy Henderson and Jim Miller get the goals as Rangers defeat Third Lanark 2-0 in the Glasgow Cup Quarter-Final Replay. The Gers would face Queen’s Park in the Semi.

1895: Sadly the goalscorers remain unknown from Rangers’ 7-2 win over Orion in a Friendly at Cattofield.

1901: Jacky Robertson is on the scoresheet as Rangers are beaten 4-1 by Third Lanark in a League match at Ibrox.

1907: A goal each from Robert Steven and RG Campbell secures a 2-1 victory for Rangers over Partick Thistle at Meadowside Park.

1912: Jimmy Bowie and Willie Reid are on target as Rangers seal a narrow 2-1 win for Rangers over Third Lanark.

1918: Rangers are held to a 0-0 draw away at Airdrie.

1929: Rangers thump Ayr Utd 9-0 thanks to 4 goals from Jimmy Fleming, 2 each from Dr James Marshall and Sandy Archibald, and 1 from George Brown.

1935: Torry Gillick, Alex Venters and Jimmy Fiddes all score a goal each to give Rangers a 3-1 win over Hamilton at Ibrox.

1940: Jimmy Smith hits a hat-trick as Rangers narrowly defeat Morton 5-4 at Ibrox. Charlie Johnston and Bobby Bolt were also on the scoresheet.

1946: Rangers beat Clyde 4-2 courtesy of goals from Chris McNee, Willie Thornton, Jimmy Duncanson and Ian McColl.

1957: Sammy Baird nets twice to seal a 2-0 win for Rangers at home against Clyde.

1963: Ralph Brand equalises with a penalty as Rangers draw 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

1966: Rangers appoint Bobby Seith as Assistant Manager to Scot Symon. The Club’s no.1 target had been Eddie Turnbull of Aberdeen who turned the offer down, a decision he later admitted regretting.

1968: Rangers suffer a 1-0 defeat away at St Mirren.

1970: Derek Johnstone scores the only goal in Rangers’ 1-0 win over Dynamo Moscow in a Friendly, at Ibrox.

1972: Willie Johnston is sold for £100,000 to West Brom. Whilst serving a 67-day suspension, Bud followed fellow Barcelona hero Colin Stein, who had moved to Coventry, South.

1974: Rangers beat Motherwell 5-0 at Fir Park with goals scored by Derek Johnstone, Quinton Young, Alex MacDonald, Derek Parlane and Bobby McKean.

1977: Goals from John Greig, Derek Johnstone and Sandy Jardine earns Rangers a 3-1 win over Dunfermline in the League Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Leg. The Gers progressed 6-2 on aggregate to face Forfar in the Semi.

1985: Sandy Clark scores twice as Rangers go down 3-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle.

1988: Rangers come from behind to defeat Hamilton 3-1 thanks to goals from Andy Gray, Ian Ferguson and Kevin Drinkell.

1991: Rangers ease to a 4-0 win over Hamilton courtesy of goals from Davie Robertson, Mark Hateley (2) and Ally McCoist.

1999: Rangers sign Tero Petilla from FC Haka for £300,000.

2002: Arthur Numan and Barry Ferguson score to earn Rangers a 2-2 draw away at Aberdeen.
