1879: Rangers defeat Kilmarnock Parkhouse 3-0 in a Friendly. Willie Dunlop, Moses McNeil and John Christie earns the Gers a victory.

1884: Rangers are beaten 4-3 by Arbroath in the Scottish Cup 4th Round. Goals from James Gossland, Peter Morton and Alick McKenzie had given the Light Blues a 3-0 half-time lead. An injury to Rangers’ Bob Young left him little more than a passenger in the 2nd half and the Arbroath fought back to victory. After the match, Rangers officials measured the pitch and found that the width was a foot shorter than the minimum requirement. A Replay was ordered after a protest to the SFA.

1890: John McPherson scores for Rangers as they draw 1-1 with Third Lanark in the Glasgow Cup Quarter-Final Replay.

1902: A goal each from Bobby Neil, Finlay Speedie and Jacky Robertson secures a narrow 3-2 win for Rangers over Queen’s Park at Ibrox.

1913: Willie Reid and Jimmy Gordon get the goals as Rangers beat Airdrie 2-0.

1924: Goals from Davie Meiklejohn, Andy Cunningham and Geordie Henderson hands Rangers a 3-0 win against Hibs.

1930: Dr James Marshall scores both goals as Rangers beat Queen’s Park 2-0 at Hampden.

1941: Rangers beat Hearts 5-2 at Ibrox with goals coming from Torry Gillick (2), Jimmy Smith, Willie McIntosh and Charlie Johnston.

1947: Rangers come from behind to beat Clyde 2-1. Willie Thornton levelled the scores before David Marshall grabbed the winner.

1952: Rangers twice come from behind to take a 6-4 win against Clyde at Shawfield. Billy Simpson netted a hat-trick with Willie Waddell, John Prentice and Derek Grierson also on target.

1958: A Billy Simpson double and a goal from Alex Scott seals a 3-0 home win for Rangers against Falkirk.

1960: Goals from Jimmy Millar, Ian McMillan and Alex Scott earns Rangers a 3-0 win in Germany over Borussia Monchengladbach in the European Cup Winners’ Cup Quarter-Final 1st Leg.

1961: An Eric Caldow penalty and a goal from Ralph Brand secures a 2-1 win for Rangers over Vorwaerts Berlin in the 1st Leg of their European Cup 1st Round tie. The 2nd Leg would have to be played in Sweden due to the Germans being unable to get entry visas for NATO countries.

1969: Rangers beat Kilmarnock 5-3 thanks to a Colin Stein hat-trick and goals from Andy Penman and Willie Johnston.

1975: Rangers cruise to a 5-1 win over St Johnstone courtesy of goals from McDonald (OG), Derek Parlane, Bobby McKean, Tommy McLean and Sandy Jardine.

1977: John Greig is awarded an MBE for his services to Football.

1978: Gordon Smith and Bobby Russell are on the mark as Rangers beat Arbroath 2-1 in the League Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Leg. The Ibrox side progress 3-1 on aggregate to play Celtic in the Semi.

1980: A goal each from Willie Johnston and Sandy Jardine hands Rangers a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.

1981: Derek Johnstone scores for Rangers in their 1-1 draw with Everton in a Testimonial Match for Colin Jackson.

1986: Rangers defeat Clydebank 4-1 with goals scored by Ally McCoist (2), Ian Durrant and Dave McPherson.

1990: Rangers sell Terry Butcher for £500,000 to Coventry, where he would take up the role of Player-Manager.

1997: Jorg Albertz scores the equaliser as Rangers are forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen.

2008: 2 goals in the first 10 minutes from Kris Boyd and Steve Davis gives Rangers a 2-1 win over St Mirren at Ibrox.

2014: Despite going ahead through Lee McCulloch on 72 minutes, Rangers can only draw 1-1 with Alloa at Ibrox.
