1874: Rangers defeat Barrhead 4-1 at Flesher’s Haugh in a Friendly. Sadly, the goalscorers remain unknown.

1883: Rangers held a General Meeting to review the past 6 months of the Club and top of the agenda was the position of Club President. The role had been vacated by Tom Vallance after he had resigned following players, said to have been led by George Gillespie, objected to him officiating a match with Dumbarton. Gillespie apologised to Vallance and “Honest Tom” was requested to resume the position, which he did.

1885: Rangers suffer a 4-0 Friendly defeat at home to Queen’s Park.

1891: Rangers are beaten 3-0 at Ibrox by Queen’s Park in the Quarter-Final of the Glasgow Cup. In attendance was “Buffalo Bill”, Colonel W.F Cody who was appearing at the East End Exhibition Building. When he was introduced to the 10,000 strong crowd at half-time, there was said to be some who cried “get your hair cut!”

1896: Alec Smith and Davy Mitchel are on target as Rangers draw 2-2 with St Mirren in a League fixture at Love Street.

1903: Finlay Speedie, RC Hamilton and Jock Drummond all score a goal each to give Rangers a 3-2 win over Queen’s Park at Hampden.

1908: Rangers thump Morton 8-0 thanks to goals from Alex Bennett (2), Alec Smith, Tom Murray (3) and William McPherson (2).

1914: 2 goals each from Willie Reid and Jimmy Gordon hands Rangers a 4-1 victory over Queen’s Park at Ibrox.

1925: Jimmy Fleming scores 4 as Rangers defeat Queen’s Park 6-3 at Hampden. Alan Morton and Andy Cunningham were also on target.

1936: Bob McPhail scores twice to secure a 2-1 win for Rangers at home against Aberdeen.

1942: Jimmy Duncanson and Bob McPhail get the goals as Rangers beat Motherwell 2-0 at Fir Park.

1953: Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw away at Aberdeen. Billy Simpson had given the Gers a half-time lead.

1959: Rangers cruise to a 6-0 victory against Clyde thanks to a Jimmy Millar hat-trick and goals from Eric Caldow, Ian McMillan and Sammy Baird.

1964: Goals from Jim Baxter and Jim Forrest earn Rangers a 2-2 draw at home with Aberdeen.

1970: Colin Jackson scores the equaliser as Rangers draw 1-1 away at Dunfermline.

1973: Alfie Conn, Colin Jackson and Alex MacDonald score to give Rangers a 3-2 win at Ibrox against Borussia Monchengladbach in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. Sadly, the Light Blues went out 5-3 on aggregate.

1979: Derek Johnstone scores as Rangers go down 3-1 at home against Valencia in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. Sandy Jardine also scored an OG as the Gers went out 4-2 on aggregate.

1981: Jim Bett scores a brace as Rangers come from behind to beat Hibs 2-1 at Easter Road.

1984: Despite a 3-1 win on the night over Inter Milan, Rangers go out of the UEFA Cup in the 2nd Round 4-3 on aggregate. Dave Mitchell had put the Ibrox men ahead before Iain Ferguson grabbed a double.

1987: Robert Fleck scores the only goal on 21 minutes to hand Rangers a 1-0 victory over Hibs at Ibrox.

1990: Ally McCoist is on the scoresheet as Rangers draw 1-1 at Ibrox with Red Star Belgrade in the European Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Light Blues went out to the eventual winners 4-1 on aggregate.

1992: Ian Durrant scores the winner on the 32nd minute as Rangers defeat Celtic 1-0 at Parkhead.

1999: Rangers beat Celtic 4-2 at Ibrox courtesy of goals from Jonatan Johansson, Jorg Albertz, Lorenzo Amoruso and Gabriel Amato.

2000: Kenny Miller and Michael Mols are on the mark as Rangers draw 2-2 at home with Monaco in the Champions League Group D Match 6. The Gers finished level on points with Galatasaray but lost out on qualification on head-to-head. They did finish in 3rd place and dropped into the UEFA Cup to play Kaiserslautern in the 3rd Round.

2002: Claudio Caniggia grabs the decisive goal as Rangers beat Dunfemrline 1-0 in the League Cup Quarter-Final. They progressed to face Hearts in the Semi.

2004: Rangers defeat Livingston 4-1 at Almondvale with goals scored by Peter Lovenkrands, Nacho Novo, Steven Thompson and Hamed Namouchi.

2007: Rangers are beaten 2-0 by Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the Champions League Group E Match 4.

2009: Rangers beat St Mirren 2-1 at Ibrox. Kris Boyd opened the scoring after 17 seconds before grabbing another on 57 minutes.

2010: Goals from McAusland (OG), Kenny Miller and Steven Naismith sees Rangers to a 3-1 victory away at St Mirren.

2013: David Somers is appointed acting Chairman of Rangers. The post had been vacant since Walter Smith’s departure in August.

2015: Rangers defeat Alloa 4-0 at Ibrox thanks to goals scored by James Tavernier, Martyn Waghorn (2) and Nicky Clark.

1959: Derek Strickland – (Stoneyburn, West Lothian). Rangers: 1978-1979 (Forward). Apps: 4, Goals: 1, Honours: 1 Glasgow Cup.

1961: Mark Hateley – (Derby, Derbyshire, England). Rangers: 1990-1995, 1997 (Forward). Apps: 222, Goals: 115, Honours: 5 Scottish League titles, 2 Scottish Cups, 3 Scottish League Cups, 1991 Forum Cup, 1995 Ibrox International Challenge Cup. International Caps: 32 (England).
