1876: Unfortunately, the goalscorers remain unknown from Rangers’ 7-0 Friendly victory over the Eastern at Kinning Park.
1878: Sadly, the identity of the Rangers goalscorers is not known from their 3-2 loss in a Friendly against Third Lanark. This match was used to experiment the use of “electric lighting” at Hampden. Despite being considered a success, it would be more than 5-0 years for floodlights to become commonplace at football grounds.
1893: John McPherson scores the only goal as Rangers beat Leith 1-0 in a League match at Ibrox.
1899: Rangers thump Dundee 6-0 thanks to an Alec Smith hat-trick and goals from RC Hamilton, James Wilkie and Watson (OG).

1939: Thomas Gilmour and John Galloway get the goals as Rangers beat Ayr Utd 2-0 at Somerset Park.
1944: Despite Neil McKinnon scoring twice in the first 16 minutes, Rangers suffer a 4-2 defeat at home to Morton.

1964: Rangers beat Red Star Belgrade 3-1 at Highbury in the European Cup 1st Round Decider. A Jim Forrest brace and a goal from Ralph Brand set-up a 2nd Round clash with Rapid Vienna.

1972: Alfie Conn equalises on 69 minutes to earn Rangers a 1-1 draw against Dundee at Dens Park.

1986: Derek Ferguson scores the winner as Rangers beat Boavista in the UEFA Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Gers progressed 3-1 on aggregate to face Borussia Monchengladbach in the 3rd Round.
1987: Ally McCoist is on the scoresheet in Poland as Rangers draw 1-1 with Gornik Zabrze in the European Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Ibrox men went through 4-2 on aggregate and would meet Steaua Bucharest in the Quarter-Final.
1989: Mo Johnston scores in the last minute to give Rangers a 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox.
1992: A long-range stunner from Mark Hateley and an Ally McCoist header seals a 2-1 win on the night and 4-2 victory on aggregate over Leeds Utd in the European Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Light Blues were drawn into Group A of the Champions League alongside Marseille, CSKA Moscow and Club Brugge.
