1876: Johnny Campbell is the only known goalscorer from Rangers’ 4-1 win over Queen’s Park Junior in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. The Gers would meet Towerhill in the 2nd Round.

1882: Willie Pringle and Tuck McIntyre score for Rangers who are beaten 3-2 by Queen’s Park in the 2nd Round if the Scottish Cup.

1893: James Steel scores both goals as Rangers draw 2-2 with Leith in a League match.

1905: Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Third Lanark in the Glasgow Cup Semi-Final. Alex Spiers is the Light Blues’ goalscorer.

1907: George Livingstone is on target for Rangers who are held to a 1-1 draw by Queen’s Park.

1908: Rangers are defeated 4-1 by Newcastle in a benefit match for the Unemployment Relief Fund. The Gers’ goal came from a Pudan OG. The Magpies would visit Ibrox a week later in a return fixture.

1935: A goal each from Davie Meiklejohn and Torry Gillick gives Rangers a 2-0 win over Clyde in the Glasgow Cup Semi-Final. The Gers would meet Celtic in the Final.

1939: Rangers are beaten 4-2 by Morton at Ibrox in a Friendly. Willie Thornton and Davie Kinnear score for the home side.

1944: Scot Symon equalised on 84 minutes as Rangers draw 1-1 at home with Motherwell.

1946: Torry Gillick and Jimmy Duncanson are on the mark as Rangers are beaten 3-2 at Partick Thistle.

1950: 2 goals each from Robert Simpson and Willie Thornton hands Rangers a 4-1 win over Airdrie at Ibrox.

1961: Rangers defeat Stirling Albion 4-1 at Ibrox with goals coming from Ian McMillan, Jimmy Millar (2) and Ralph Brand.

1964: Rangers beat Dundee Utd 2-1 in the League Cup Semi-Final. Jim Forrest levelled up on the 87th minute before netting an extra-time winner to book the Gers’ place in the Final with Celtic.

1967: Alex Ferguson equalises for the Light Blues who draw 1-1 with Hearts at Ibrox. Andy Penman then missed a penalty.

1970: Colin Stein’s 81st minute goal isn’t enough for Rangers who can only draw in Germany with Bayern Munich in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Light Blues went out 2-1 on aggregate. The Ibrox men felt hard done by with Munich’s goal coming directly from an indirect free-kick!

1972: Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Tommy McLean had put the Gers in-front on the 29th minute.

1978: Rangers come from 1-0 down to beat Motherwell 4-1. A Gordon Smith brace and a goal each from Tommy McLean and Derek Johnstone seals the points.

1981: Jim Bett and John McDonald are on target as Rangers beat Dukla Prague 2-1 in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg. The Ibrox side went out 4-2 on aggregate.

1987: Mark Falco and Ally McCoist score to defeat Dynamo Kiev in the European Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg. The Gers progressed 2-1 on aggregate and would meet Gornik Zabrze in the 2nd Round.

1989: Mo Johnston nets the decisive goal to hand Rangers a 1-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

1992: Rangers defeat Lyngby 1-0 in the Champions League 1st Qualifying Round 2nd Leg. Ian Durrant scores 5 minutes from the end to give the Gers a 3-0 aggregate victory. Rangers would meet Leeds Utd in the next Round.

1995: Paul Gascoigne and Alec Clelland are on the scoresheet as Rangers beat Celtic 2-0 at Parkhead.

1997: Despite Gennaro Gattuso putting the Gers ahead, Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Strasbourg in the UEFA Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg. The Light Blues went out 4-2 on aggregate.

2001: Rangers have Lorenzo Amoruso sent-off as they are beaten 2-0 by Celtic.

2004: Rangers beat Maritimo 1-0 in the UEFA Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg. Dado Prso scored the winner before the Gers went through, 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw. The Ibrox men were drawn into Group F alongside Amica Wronki, Grazer AK, AZ Alkmaar and Auxerre.

1877: Moses McNeil, David Hill, Alex Marshall and James Watson are the only known scorers from Rangers’ 5-0 thrashing of Vale of Leven in a Friendly at Kinning Park.

1883: Rangers ease to a 14-2 victory over Whitehill Welfare in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round at Kinning Park. Hugh McHardy is the only known goalscorer as the Light Blues moved on to play Falkirk in the 3rd Round. Only again in 1934 would the Gers ever score as any as 14 in a single match. The opponent that day was Blairgowrie, and was also won 14-2.

1888: Rangers suffer a 3-0 defeat to Clyde in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round Replay at Ibrox.

1894: 2 goals from John McPherson, 1 from John Cowan and a Goldie OG earns Rangers a 4-3 victory over St Mirren in a League clash at Ibrox.

1900: Rangers defeat Queen’s Park 3-2 at Hampden. Jacky Robertson and John McPherson scored a goal each with Russell also netting an OG.

1902: John Walker and James Stark score as Rangers are beaten 5-2 by Hibs at Ibrox.

1906: JR Hamilton is the Rangers scorer in their 2-1 loss to Partick Thistle at Ibrox.

1934: Rangers defeat Hibs 4-2 at Ibrox thanks to a Jimmy Smith double and goals from Davie Meiklejohn and Bobby Main.

1941: Rangers beat Celtic 3-2 in the 1st Round of the Glasgow Cup at Hampden. Just 15,000 watched as goals from George Thomson, Charlie Johnston and Willie McIntosh booked a Final clash with Clyde. Due to crowd trouble at a previous fixture, the Old Firm tie had been an all-ticket affair, leading to a lower than normal turn-out.

1945: Goals from George Young and Billy Williamson earns Rangers a 2-2 draw with St Mirren at Love Street.

1947: Rangers defeat Third Lanark 4-1 in the Glasgow Cup Final at Hampden. Jimmy Duncanson opened the scoring on 25 minutes, but the 2 sides went in level at half-time. 3 goals in the final 16 minutes from Eddie Rutherford, Willie Findlay and Torry Gillick saw the Cup head back to Ibrox.

1951: Rangers suffer a 1-0 defeat away at Dundee.

1952: Despite going ahead through Johnny Hubbard, Ragers are beaten 3-1 by Partick Thistle in the Glasgow Cup Final at Hampden.

1956: Rangers beat Ayr Utd 3-1 at Ibrox. Johnny Hubbard put the Light Blues in-front but a double from Alex Scott was required to earn the victory.

1958: Rangers draw 0-0 with Clyde in the Final of the Glasgow Cup at Hampden.

1962: Rangers are forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Dundee at Ibrox. Jimmy Millar had put the home side ahead.

1973: Rangers are beaten 3-0 at home by Hearts.

1976: Derek Johnstone is sent-off as Rangers are defeated 1-0 by Zurich in the 2nd Leg of their European Cup 1st Round tie at the Letzigrund Stadium. The Gers exited 2-1 on aggregate.

1979: Derek Johnstone pulls a goal back as Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

1986: Phil Boersma joins Rangers, combining a coaching role with that of physiotherapist. The former Liverpool midfielder had been Assistant Manager at Lincoln City before joining up with Graeme Souness, who he’d follow to the Reds and subsequent Clubs.

1990: John Brown scores the winner to secure a 1-0 victory for Rangers against Motherwell at Ibrox.

1993: Rangers suffer a 2-1 defeat to Levski Sofia in the Champions League Qualifying Round 2nd Leg in Bulgaria. Ian Durrant had levelled on the night, but the Gers would go out on away goals with the aggregate scores level at 4-4.

1999: Charlie Miller moves from Rangers to Watford in a £450,000 deal.

2007: Kris Boyd equalises with a penalty in Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Motherwell at Fir Park.

2009: Nacho Novo scores late on as Rangers are beaten 4-1 at home by Sevilla in the 2nd match of the Champions League Group G.

2010: Steven Naismith grabs the winner as Rangers defeat Bursaspor at Ibrox in the Champions League Group C Match 2.

2012: Rangers triumph 1-0 against Forres Mechanics in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round at Mosset Park. Kal Naismith’s goal was enough to book a 3rd Round clash with Alloa.

2014: Rangers suffer a 3-1 home defeat to Hibs. Nicky Law scored for the Ibrox men in the 2nd half.

2017: A Declan John double helps Rangers to a 4-1 victory away at Hamilton. Daniel Candeias was also on the mark, with Graham Dorrans scoring a penalty. The Light Blues had Ryan Jack dismissed in the 2nd Half.

1977: Rangers are beaten 3-0 in Holland by Twente in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg. The Gers go out 3-0 on aggregate.

1983: Rangers thump Valetta 10-0 in the European Cup Winners’ Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg with goals scored by Dave Mitchell (2), John McDonald (3), Ally Dawson, Billy McKay and Ian Redford (2). The Gers moved on 18-0 on aggregate to meet Porto in the 2nd Round.

1999: Jorg Albertz hits the winner 6 minutes from time to give Rangers a 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League Group F Match 3.

1929: The Dundee Evening Telegraph reported that Rangers had signed 22 year-old George Brown from Ashfield Juniors. 2001: Bert Konterman scores the decisive goal 5 minutes from the end to give Rangers a 1-0 win over Anzhi Mahkachkala in the UEFA Cup 1st Round, in Warsaw. The Gers would face Moscow Dynamo in the 2nd Round.

2003: Rangers beat Dundee 3-1 at Ibrox thanks to a Shota Arveladze double and a goal from Paolo Vanoli. Nacho Novo was on the scoresheet for the Dee’s.

2011: Nikca Jelavic and Gregg Wylde score to hand Rangers a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

2015: A Martyn Waghorn hat-trick and a goal from James Tavernier sees Rangers to a 4-0 victory way at Morton.
