1878: Charlie McQuarrie and William Struthers are the only known goalscorers from Rangers’ 3-0 win over Alexandria Athletic in the Scottish Cup 4th Round. The Gers would meet Partick in the 5th Round.

1889: Alex McFarlane and John Allan score twice each as Rangers beat Partick Thistle 5-2 in a Friendly. Tom Wylie was also on target for the Light Blues.

1895: A goal each from James Oswald, Robert Marshall and John Barker gives Rangers a 3-1 victory over Dundee in a League match.

1901: An RC Hamilton brace and a goal from David McDougall earns Rangers a 3-2 Friendly win against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

1907: Archie Kyle nets a hat-trick as Rangers defeat Third Lanark 5-3 at Cathkin Park. Jimmy Spiers and RC Hamilton were also on the scoresheet.

1935: Rangers come from behind to beat Kilmarnock 2-1 at Ibrox. Bobby Main equalised for the Gers before Alex Venters grabbed the winner.

1940: Rangers suffer a 1-0 loss away at Hibs.

1946: Goals from Jimmy Duncanson, Chris McNee and Willie Thornton hands Rangers a 3-0 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.

1957: Max Murray, Sammy Baird and Harold Davis are on target for Rangers in their 3-3 draw with East Fife.

1960: Ralph Brand becomes the first Rangers player to score a hat-trick in Europe as Rangers thrash Borussia Monchengladbach at Ibrox in the European Cup Winners’ Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Leg. Jim Baxter, Alex Scott, Harold Davis and Jimmy Millar (2) were also on the mark for the home side. The Gers progressed 11-0 on aggregate and would play Wolves in the Semi-Final of the inaugural competition.

1963: Rangers are beaten 3-0 by Hearts at Ibrox.

1968: Despite going ahead through Colin Stein, Rangers can only draw 1-1 with Airdrie at home.

1974: Rangers beat Dundee Utd 4-2 with goals coming from Sandy Jardine (2), Derek Parlane and Tommy McLean.

1983: Davie Cooper scores the only goal as Rangers beat St Mirren 1-0 at Love Street in the final match of the League Cup Section 2. The Gers moved on to meet Dundee Utd in the Semi-Final.

1987: Rangers sign Ray Wilkins from Paris St-Germain.

1989: Rangers secure the signature of Nigel Spackman who joins the Light Blues for £500,000 from QPR. Ray Wilkins heads in the opposite direction.

1991: Dale Gordon and Richard Gough get the goals as Rangers defeat Motherwell 2-0 at Fir Park.

1995: Rangers agree a deal to sign Derek McInnes for £300,000 from Greenock Morton.

2000: Jorg Albertz scores the 88th minute winner as Rangers beat Kaiserslautern in the UEFA Cup 3rd Round 1st Leg at Ibrox.

2003: Stephen Hughes scores in the final few minutes to seal a 1-0 win for Rangers over Hibs in Edinburgh.

2013: Late goals from Nicky Law and David Templeton gives Rangers a 2-0 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup 4th Round. Lee McCulloch had missed a penalty. The Ibrox men progressed to play Dunfermline in the 5th Round.

2014: A Nicky Law double and a goal from Kris Boyd secures a 3-0 win for Rangers over Kilmarnock in the Scottish cup 4th Round. Raith Rovers would be the opposition in the 5th Round.

2016: Rangers are beaten 2-0 by Hearts at Tynecastle.

1885: Charlie Heggie scores 5 as Rangers thump St Mirren 6-0 in a Friendly at Kinning Park. The other scorer remains unknown.

1891: Robert Blyth, John McPherson, Neil Kerr and William McBain are the only known goalscorers as Rangers beat St Bernard’s 5-1 in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. The Gers progressed to face Kilmarnock in the 2nd Round.

1896: Jimmy Millar and Alec Smith are on the scoresheet as Rangers are beaten 3-2 by Dundee in a League match at Carolina Port.

1942: Rangers hammer Airdrie 7-1 with goals scored by Billy Williamson (3), Charlie Johnston, Jimmy Duncanson, Alex Venters and Willie Waddell.

1945: Rangers draw 2-2 with Moscow Dynamo in the famous friendly match played at Ibrox as part of the Russian side’s Tour. The Light Blues found themselves 1-down thanks to a penalty inside 2 minutes before Willie Waddell missed the chance to level from the penalty spot himself on the 5th minute. Dynamo doubled their lead before Jimmy Smith pulled a goal back for the Light Blues 5 minutes before half-time. George Young then levelled the scores with a spot kick to earn the Light Blues a famous 2-2 draw. At one point in the match, it was discovered that the Russians had 12 men on the field, pointed out to the Referee by Torry Gillick. This was a trick employed by the Moscow side at least once before on their Tour.

1953: Willie Thornton equalises as Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw by Clyde at Ibrox.

1956: Rangers’ first ever foray into Europe comes to an end as the Gers are defeated 3-1 by Nice in the European Cup 2nd Round Decider. The Gers’ goal came from a Browin OG. During the match, after a tackle on Muro by Bobby Shearer, Nice’s Bruno landed a punch on the Rangers defender. A full-scale punch-up broke out and the Referee later claimed that he has sent both Shearer and Bruno off although neither actually left the Field of play.

1959: Sammy Baird is on target as Rangers suffer a 2-1 defeat by Motherwell at Fir Park. Meanwhile, discussions had begun between Rangers and Raith Rovers over the Transfer of Jim Baxter. It would take a further 4 months for the deal to eventually be finalised.

1964: Rangers cruise to a 5-0 victory over Falkirk at Brockville courtesy of goals from Jim Forrest (2), John Greig, Jim Baxter and Davie Wilson.

1967: Rangers are beaten 3-1 in Germany by Cologne in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg. The Light Blues had been 3-0 up from the 1st Leg and should’ve been looking to see-out the Tie but were put on the back foot after conceding a goal inside just 30 seconds. Willie Henderson scored with 3 minutes remaining in Extra-Time to earn the Gers a 4-3 aggregate victory. Rangers would meet Leeds Utd in the Quarter-Final.

1970: A goal each from Graham Fyfe and Alfie Conn earns Rangers a 2-1 win over Morton at Cappielow.

1981: Rangers secure the League Cup with a 2-1 Final victory over Dundee Utd. Davie Cooper levelled for the Ibrox men on the 75th minute with Ian Redford grabbing an 88th minute winner.

1985: Scott Nisbet and Ally McCoist score twice each to hand Rangers a 4-1 win over Hamrun Spartans in the first of 2 Friendly matches played in Malta.

1987: Goals from Robert Fleck, Levein (OG) and Ian Durrant seals a 3-2 win for Rangers over Hearts at Ibrox.

1991: Rangers sign Dale Gordon from Norwich for £1.2 million.

1992: Trevor Steven, Gary McSwegan and Dave McPherson are all on the mark to secure a 3-0 victory for Rangers against Partick Thistle at Ibrox.

2001: Rangers beat Ross County 2-1 in the League Cup Quarter-Final. Goals from Shota Arveladze and Claudio Reyna set-up a Semi with Celtic. The Light Blues had Lorenzo Amoruso sent-off.

2004: Rangers beat Hearts 3-2 at Ibrox thanks to a McAllister OG and 2 goals from Nacho Novo.

2009: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

2015: Rangers book their place in the League Challenge Cup Final with a 4-0 home win against St Mirren in the Semi. Goals from Jason Holt, Kenny Miller, Martyn Waghorn and Kelly (OG) set-up a Hampden Final with Peterhead.

1955: Rangers are held to a 2-2 draw by Motherwell at Ibrox. Johnny Hubbard and Don Kitchenbrand had the Ibrox men 2-0 up after 18 minutes.

1960: Despite going 2 up through Davie Wilson and Ian McMillan, Rangers are beaten 3-2 at home by Kilmarnock.

1966: A Jim Forrest double sees Rangers overturn a 1 goal deficit to beat Hibs 2-1 at Easter Road.

1969: Rangers are beaten 3-1 by Gornik Zabrze at Ibrox in the European Cup Winners’ 2nd Round. Jim Baxter put the home side ahead but the Gers crashed out 6-2 on aggregate. The result would cost Rangers Manager Davie White his job.

1977: Rangers cruise to a 5-0 win over Ayr Utd at Somerset Park thanks to a Derek Johnstone hat-trick and goals from Colin Jackson and Derek Parlane.

1983: Ian Redford scores the only goal as Rangers defeat St Johnstone 1-0 at Muirton Park.

1986: Ian Durrant is on the scoresheet as Rangers take a 1-1 draw at home with Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Cup 3rd 1st Leg. The Germans’ goal was the last that Chris Woods would concede for 12 games.

1988: Richard Gough scores the winner on 43 minutes as Rangers defeat Aberdeen 1-0 at Ibrox. David Murray received a rapturous welcome from the Light Blues Supporters, as he took his seat in the Ibrox Directors Box for the first time.

1995: Rangers defeat Hibs 4-1 thanks to goals from Ally McCoist, Charlie Miller, Gordon Durie and Dods (OG).

1999: A Kohler OG and a goal from Rod Wallace gives Rangers a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Cup 3rd Round 1st Leg.

2001: Peter Lovenkrands is on the mark as Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Celtic at Parkhead.

2004: Rangers beat Grazer AK 3-0 at Ibrox in the UEFA Cup Group F Match 2 with goals scored by Nacho Novo, Shota Arveladze and Hamed Namouchi.

2013: Goals from Jon Daly and Nicky Clark, and a Donaldson OG, seals a 3-0 victory for Rangers away at Arbroath.

1883: Alex Hamilton grabs both goals as Rangers go down 5-2 in a Friendly to Queen’s Park.

1894: John Cowan pulls a goal back for Rangers who are beaten 2-1 at home by Hearts in the Scottish Cup 1st Round.

1900: RC Hamilton scores 4 as Rangers thump St Mirren 5-2 at Ibrox. John Graham is on the scoresheet.

1906: Rangers overturn a 1 goal deficit to beat Hibs 3-1 at Easter Road with goals scored by Archie Kyle, John McFie and Alec Smith.

1913: It was confirmed that Rangers had signed St Johnstone’s young Inside-Forward Tommy Cairns. He would remain at Rangers for the next 14 years, becoming one of the Club’s greatest Captains, scoring 144 goals in 441 appearances and winning 7 League Championships before being transferred to Bradford where he continued his career past his 41st Birthday.

2007: Kris Boyd, Jean-Claude Darcheville and Carlos Cuellar score to hand Rangers a 3-1 win at Falkirk.

2009: Rangers are defeated 2-0 by Stuttgart in the Champions League Group G Match 5.

2010: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Manchester Utd in the Champions League Group C Match 5.

2011: Rangers complete the signing of Sone Aluko on a free transfer. The Winger had been out of a Club since leaving Aberdeen in the Summer.
