1879: James Drinnan scores for Rangers who draw 1-1 in a Friendly with Kilmarnock Parkhouse.

1884: Rangers draw 0-0 in a Friendly with St Mirren at Westmarch Estate.

1890: Jimmy Henderson is on the scoresheet as Rangers draw 1-1 with Queen’s Park in a Friendly at Ibrox.

1902: Rangers ensure a 4th League Championship in a row with a 3-1 home win over Dundee in the final fixture. Goals from RC Hamilton, Alec Smith and Finlay Speedie meant the Light Blues finished 2 points ahead of Celtic in 2nd and became the first side to win the League Title more than 3 times consecutively.

1919: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Airdrie in the Quarter-Final of the Victory Cup at Broomfield. The Gers would defeat the Diamonds on their way to winning a similar tournament at the cessation of the 2nd World War.

1924: Rangers suffer a 1-0 loss at home to Raith Rovers.

1927: George McMillan and Dr Jimmy Marshall get the goals as Rangers beat Hibs 2-0 at Ibrox.

1930: Rangers secure their 18th League Title with a 3-1 victory over Clyde at Ibrox. A Dr Jimmy Marshall double and a goal from Tommy Muirhead handed the Light Blues the required win to seal the Championship with 5 games to spare.

1937: A goal each from Alex Venters, Bob McPhail and Davie Kinnear earns Rangers a 3-1 triumph against Partick Thistle at Ibrox.

1941: Rangers defeat Dumbarton 6-3 in the Southern League Cup Group C with goals scored by Jimmy Smith (2), Charlie Johnston (2), Torry Gillick and David Marshall.

1947: Billy Williamson scores 4 times as Rangers thump Motherwell 5-0 at Ibrox. Eddie Rutherford was also on target.

1948: Jimmy Duncanson equalises as Rangers draw 1-1 with Falkirk at Ibrox.

1952: Willie Thornton and David Marshall score in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Queen of the South in Dumfries.

1958: A goal each from George Duncan and Jimmy Millar sees Rangers draw 2-2 with Motherwell at Ibrox.

1961: Alex Scott and Ralph Brand score as Rangers take a 2-0 victory over Wolves in the 1st Leg of their European Cup Winners’ Cup Semi-Final at Ibrox.

1966: Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-1 in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final Replay at Hampden. Goals from George McLean and Jim Forrest set-up a Final clash with Celtic.

1967: Rangers beat St Johnstone 4-3 courtesy of goals from Davie Wilson (2), Alex Willoughby and Alex Smith.

1969: Rangers defeat Raith 2-1 at Ibrox. Andy Penman opened the scoring with Willie Johnston netting a last minute winner.

1975: Colin Stein heads home the equaliser against Hibs at Easter Road to hand Rangers a 1-1 draw with Hibs, and enabling them to secure their first League Championship since the Treble-winning campaign of 1963/64. Sandy Jardine had also missed a penalty.

1978: Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw by Hibs at Ibrox. Derek Parlane had put the home side in-front before being sent-off.

1980: Sandy Jardine and John McDonald are on the mark as Rangers draw 2-2 at home with Aberdeen.

1986: Ally McCoist scores a penalty as Rangers suffer a 3-1 defeat away at Hearts. Sandy Clark was on the scoresheet for the Jambos.

1994: Rangers beat Partick Thistle 2-1 at Ibrox. Richard Gough gave the Light Blues the lead but a last minute winner from Ally McCoist was to be required.

2007: Dado Prso announces that he will leave Rangers in the Summer. With uncertainty over his fitness, the Croatian later decides to retire.

2008: Kevin Thomson grabs the decisive goal shortly before half-time to give Rangers a 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox.

2014: Goals from Jon Daly and Fraser Aird seals a 2-1 victory for Rangers over Arbroath at Gayfield.

1875: Founders Moses McNeil (2) and Peter Campbell scores as Rangers defeat Sandyford 3-0 in a Friendly on Flesher’s Haugh.

1880: The goalscorers remain unknown from Rangers’ 11-0 win over Drumpellier in a Friendly.

1881: Rangers’ Kinning Park played host to the Scottish Cup Final between Queen’s Park an Dumbarton. The Spiders emerged 2-1 victors although Dumbarton appealed that the crowd had encroached on to the Field at various points in the match and especially when the Hampden side grabbed their 2nd goal. The appeal was upheld and a Replay scheduled for 9th April, again at Kinning Park.

1886: Sadly, the Rangers scorers are unknown from their 6-3 loss to St Mirren in a Friendly at Westmarch Estate.

1894: Rangers are beaten 3-1 in a Friendly by Aston Villa at Perry Barr. The Light Blues’ scorer remains untraced.

1897: Rangers are defeated 2-0 by Hibs in a Friendly at Easter Road.

1899: Rangers Football Club convenes a meeting to discuss the possibility of becoming a Limited Liability Company. Football as a whole had become more professional and it was seen as a natural progression for the Ibrox Club. The move was overwhelmingly agreed upon, allowing the Club to sell shares and raise the Capital for the redevelopment of Ibrox Park.

1909: A goal each from Alex Bennett, Tom Gilchrist and RG Campbell hands Rangers a 31 victory over Aberdeen in a League match at Ibrox.

1915: Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw by Aberdeen at Ibrox. Joe Hendry had put the home side in-front.

1920: Dr Jimmy Paterson scores as Rangers can only draw 1-1 with Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Parkhead.

1923: Andy Cunningham and Geordie Henderson get the goals as Rangers beat Falkirk 2-0 at Ibrox.

1926: Rangers suffer a 1-0 loss at home to Aberdeen.

1929: With the League Title already secured, Rangers suffer their first defeat of the season, a 3-1 loss away at Hamilton. Alan Morton pulled a goal back late-in for the visitors in a match that saw the debut of Jimmy Smith. The forward would go on to score 365 goals in 390 game for the Gers in a 17-year career at Ibrox. After hanging up his boots, he remained with the Light Blues as Trainer and the a scout until 1967.

1943: An Alex Venters double earns Rangers a 2-0 victory over Celtic at Parkhead in the Southern League Cup Group D.

1948: Willie Thornton scores the only goal as Rangers defeat Hibs 1-0 in the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden. The attendance of 143,570 remains the largest crowd to ever watch a Rangers match as they progressed to face Morton in the Final. The figure is also a British record with the exception of Cup Finals.

1950: Rangers beat Raith 2-0 at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Replay. A goal each from Willie Findlay and Sammy Cox set-up a Semi tie with Queen of the South.

1954: A Billy Simpson double and a goal from Derek Grierson aren’t enough as Rangers slip to a 4-3 defeat away at Falkirk. The visitors had actually found themselves 3-0 down inside 13 minutes before fighting back to 3-2 in the 2nd Half.

1963: Rangers thump Hearts 5-0 in Edinburgh thanks to goals from Jimmy Millar (2), Davie Wilson (2) and George McLean.

1971: 2nd half goals from John Greig and Willie Johnston seals a 2-0 victory for Rangers against Ayr Utd at Ibrox.

1972: Rangers defeat Motherwell 4-2 in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final Replay at Ibrox with goals scored by Fallon (OG), Colin Stein (2) and Tommy McLean. The Ibrox men would meet Hibs in the Semi-Final.

1976: Rangers beat St Johnstone 3-0 at Muirton Park. John Greig opened the scoring before Derek Johnston netted a brace.

1979: 2 goals from Billy Urquhart earns Rangers a narrow 2-1 triumph over St Mirren in Paisley.

1982: Rangers draw 0-0 with Hibs at Easter Road.

1983: Rangers beat Swansea 6-3 in a Testimonial match for Tom Forsyth. Goals from Gordon Dalziel (2), Robert Prytz (2), John McDonald and Forsyth hands the Light Blues a victory.

1989: Ally McCoist grabs the decisive goal to give Rangers a 1-0 win over Dundee Utd in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final Replay at Tannadice. The Gers moved on to play St Johnstone in the Semi.

1993: Goals from Stuart McCall, Ally McCoist and Ian Ferguson hands Rangers a 3-0 victory over Dundee at Ibrox.

1996: Ally McCoist captains Scotland for the first and only time in his career in a Friendly against Australia at Hampden. He marked the occasion by scoring the winning goal on 55 minutes.

2010: Rangers beat Hearts 4-1 at Tynecastle courtesy of goals from Danny Wilson, Kenny Miller and Steven Naismith (2).

1904: Rangers wrap up their League fixtures with a 5-0 thrashing of Airdrie at Ibrox. Goals from Charles Donaghy, Alec Mackie (2), Charlie Chalk and Jimmy Stark meant the Gers finished on a winning note. The Ibrox side finished 3rd in the Table, 1 point behind 2nd placed Hearts and 5 off winners Third Lanark.

1876: Founder Moses McNeil becomes Rangers Football Club’s first ever International as he plays for Scotland against Wales at Hamilton Crescent.

1882: R.Ramsay is the only known scorer as Rangers are beaten 3-2 in a Friendly by Aston Villa at Perry Barr in-front of 4,000 spectators. The Birmingham side would travel for a return game at Kinning Park the following month.

1893: John McPherson and Douglas Dick score as Rangers are held to a 2-2 draw by St Mirren in a League match at Westmarch Estate.

1905: Rangers defeat Celtic 2-0 at Parkhead in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final. Finlay Speedie and Jacky Robertson get the goals as the Light Blues upset the odds and progress to face Third Lanark in the Final. After Robertson’s goal went in, part of the Celtic support invaded the pitch in an attempt to get the tie abandoned. They succeeded although the Parkhead side immediately conceded the tie allowing the Gers to progress.

1911: Willie Reid and Jimmy Bowie are on the mark as Rangers draw 2-2 with Morton at Cappielow.

1914: Willie Reid scores a hat-trick as Rangers defeat Ayr Utd 5-2 at Ibrox. Scott Duncan and Alex Bennett were also on the scoresheet for the home side.

1918: Walter Tull is killed in action at the 2nd Battle of the Somme in France, his actions earning him a posthumous recommendation for a Military Cross having already won the British War and Victory Medals. Tull had agreed a move to Rangers in February of the previous year and may even have played in an uncompetitive trial match whilst in Scotland training to be an Officer. 2006: Sotirios Kygriakos scores on 70 minutes to give Rangers a 1-0 win at home over Dunfermline.

2012: Goals from Sone Aluko, Andy Little and Lee Wallace sees Rangers defeat Celtic 3-2 at Ibrox to prevent the Parkhead side winning the title. The Gers had Carlos Bocanegra sent-off late-on.

1956: 2 goals from Don Kitchenbrand and 1 from Johnny Hubbard earns Rangers a narrow 3-2 win over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

1962: Walter Carlyle scores the winner as Rangers suffer a 1-0 loss to Dundee Utd at Ibrox.

1965: 2nd half goals from Davie Wilson and Jim Forrest hands Rangers a 2-1 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox.

1969: A goal from Andy Penman and a Caldwell OG aren’t enough to prevent Rangers from slipping to a 3-2 defeat away at Airdrie. Colin Stein missed a penalty for the visitors.

1973: Tommy McLean grabs the decisive goal to give Rangers a 1-0 win over Hibs at Ibrox.

1979: Rangers beat Partick Thistle 4-3 on penalties following a 3-3 draw in the Glasgow Cup 1st Round. Billy Urquhart, John McDonald and Alex Miller were all on the mark for the Ibrox side. Alex Forsyth also scored an OG as the Gers progressed to meet Celtic in the Final.

1989: Rangers player Gordon Mackay receives a £4,000 bursary to study Sport Science at London Hospital. Dr Mackay was on a year’s sabbatical after graduating and spent it training with the Rangers players and playing a handful of reserve games. The medic had previously been on the books at St Mirren and Kilmarnock.

1990: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Hibs at Ibrox.

1991: Scott Nibsett is sent-off as Rangers suffer a 3-0 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.

1998: Paul Gascoigne checks in for Training at Rangers for the last time as the finishing touches are put to the £3 million deal that would see him make the switch from Ibrox to Middlesbrough.

1999: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Raith Rovers in a Testimonial match for Jimmy Gibson at Stark’s Park.

2002: A Christian Nerlinger brace and a goal from Barry Ferguson seals a 3-0 win for Rangers over Partick Thistle in the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup. The Gers moved on to play Celtic in the Final.

2010: Rangers are beaten 1-0 by Dundee Utd at Tannadice in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final Replay.

1879: Willie Dunlop scores the only goal in the final minute to earn Rangers a 1-0 win over Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final at Hampden. The Light Blues received a bye in the Semi-Final and so progressed to their 2nd Scottish Cup Final where they’d again face Vale of Leven.

1884: Rangers defeat Pollokshields 6-1 in a Friendly thanks to goals from Charlie Heggie (2), Sam Thomson (2), Jimmy Duncan and Jimmy Gossland.

1890: Jimmy Henderson is the only known goalscorer from Rangers’ 3-0 Friendly victory over Battlefield at Ibrox.

1902: Rangers suffer a 2-0 loss to Hibs in the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup.

1913: Alex Bennett and Dr Jimmy Paterson get the goals as Rangers beat Partick Thistle 2-0 in a League match at Ibrox.

1919: James Blair scores a penalty as Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw  by Ayr Utd at Somerset Park.

1924: 2nd half goals from Tommy Cairns, Geordie Henderson and Andy Cunningham secures a 3-1 victory away at Third Lanark.

1930: Rangers beat Hearts 4-1 in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final. A Jimmy Fleming hat-trick and a goal from Bob McPhail set-up a Final clash with Partick Thistle.

1941: Rangers are beaten 2-0 by Falkirk at Brockville in the Southern League Cup Group C.

1947: Rangers secure their place in the first ever League Cup Final with a 3-1 triumph over Hibs in the Semi at Hampden. Torry Gillick, Willie Waddell and Willie Thornton all score as the Gers progress to face Aberdeen.

1952: Billy Simpson scores for Rangers who are beaten 2-1 by Motherwell at Fir Park.

1958: Ralph Brand grabs the winner on the hour mark at Bayview to give Rangers a 1-0 win against East Fife.

1967: Rangers are beaten 2-0 away in Spain by Real Zaragoza in the European Cup Winners’ Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Leg. The Gers had taken a 2-0 lead into the match so with the aggregate scores level, the tie went to Extra-Time. Dave Smith missed a penalty to win the match for the visitors but the match ended with no further goals. The tie would then be settled by the toss of a coin! Thankfully, John Greig guessed correctly and Rangers took their place in the Semi-Final where they were paired with Slavia Sofia.

1969: Rangers ease to a 6-1 victory over Aberdeen at Parkhead in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final with goals scored by Willie Johnston (3), Andy Penman (2) and Willie Henderson. The Light Blues would face Celtic in the Final.

1972: Alex MacDonald nets the all-important goal early in the 2nd Half to give Rangers a 1-0 win at Ibrox over Torino in the European Cup Winners’ Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Leg. The Gers moved on with a 2-1 aggregate victory to play Bayern Munich in the Semi-Final.

1975: Rangers defeat Motherwell 3-0 at Ibrox. Alex Miller opened the scoring before Derek Johnstone grabbed a double. The home side had Bobby McKean sent-off.

1979: Rangers draw 1-1 at home with Cologne in the European Cup Quarter-Final 2nd Leg. Tommy McLean equalised on 87 minutes but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Ibrox side exiting the competition 2-1 on aggregate.

1986: Rangers draw 4-4 with Celtic at Ibrox. 2 goals from Cammy Fraser and 1 each from Ally McCoist and Robert Fleck earned the Gers a draw after going 2-0 and then 3-1 behind.

1994: Rangers beat Barrow 3-0 in a Testimonial match for Glenn Skivington courtesy of goals from Paul Patterson (2) and Steven Watson.

1997: Gordon Durie is on target as Rangers are beaten 2-1 home by Kilmarnock.

1990: Rangers’ Albion Training Ground was sold following an Extraordinary General Meeting at the King’s Theatre. Around 300 shareholders attended the meeting to grill David Murray on the proposal that would see the land, purchased for the Club by the Rangers Supporters Association, being sold to one of Murray’s Companies for £2 million. The deal was eventually approved with a 2-1 vote.

1992: Rangers suffer a 2-0 loss at home to Celtic.

1998: A goal each from Marco Negri and Jonas Thern sees Rangers come from behind to beat St Johnstone 2-1 at Ibrox. Alan Kernaghan was on the mark for Killie.

2001: The Family Section is launched at Ibrox. Fans were warned that swearing would no longer be tolerated in the Broomloan Road Stand as the Club targeted a younger audience.

2009: Despite going 2-0 ahead through Kyle Lafferty and Barry Ferguson, Rangers can only draw 2-2 at home with Hearts.

2010: Kenny Miller scores the crucial goal 6 minutes from time as 9-man Rangers defeat St Mirren 1-0 in the League Cup Final. The Gers had Kevin Thomson and Danny Wilson sent-off.

1875: Rangers defeat the Rovers 4-0 in a Friendly thanks to goals from founder Peter Campbell (2), George Phillips and James Watson.

1886: Alick McKenzie scores as Rangers draw 1-1 in a Friendly with Renton in a Friendly at Tontine Park.

1890: A meeting takes place between 12 Scottish Football Clubs, including Rangers represented by President John Mellish and Match Secretary William Wilton, to discuss the proposal from Renton Secretary Peter Fairly over a Scottish Football League. A notable exception were Queen’s Park who refused to take anything to do with it believing it would lead to professionalism and the death of smaller Clubs. An agreement was reached on the formation of a League in which 11 teams eventually took part in the first edition (St Bernard’s were not admitted). League matches wer e to take precedence over all others with the exception of Scottish Cup ties. After just 5 games Renton were expelled leaving just 10 Clubs by the season’s end. Importantly, this now provided regular competitive football for Rangers.

1897: Rangers thump Dumbarton 5-1 at Hampden in the Final of the Scottish Cup. Goals from Tommy Hyslop, Jim Miller (2), John McPherson and Alec Smith secured the Gers’ 2nd ever success in the competition. The Light Blues scored an impressive 23 goals in the 5 Cup matches of the season.

1909: William McPherson scores the only goal as Rangers defeat Falkirk 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Brockville. The Gers would play Celtic in a Final that would turn out to be a real battle.

1911: Robert Parker, Billy Hogg and George Chapman all score to give Rangers a 3-0 Friendly victory over a United Belfast Select XI.
