1880: Willie Dunlop is on target as Rangers draw 1-1 in a Friendly with Vale of Leven at Kinning Park.

1885: Rangers defeat Battlefield 4-1 in a Friendly courtesy of goals scored by Jimmy Mackie (2), Alick McKenzie and Pat Lafferty.

1903: Rangers begin their Inter-City League fixtures with a 4-4 draw at home against Hearts. RC Hamilton and Finlay Speedie scored twice each for the Light Blues.

1914: Willie Reid and James Stewart score twice each as Rangers beat Raith 4-0 in a League match at Ibrox. Jimmy Gordon also missed a penalty.

1920: A goal each from Dr Jimmy Paterson, Jimmy Gordon and Sandy Archibald earns Rangers a 3-0 victory at Falkirk.

1925: Rangers suffer a 1-0 loss to Hamilton at Douglas Park.

1931: Rangers are beaten 2-1 at home by Dundee in the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup. Jimmy Fleming had levelled up for the Gers, although there was controversy over the fact that the match actually took place. Torrential rain had caused the Ibrox pitch to be less than ideal for a game of football, however the referee ignored the calls for postponement and played the match anyway. Of course, the pitch was the same for both sides.

1942: Rangers are held to a 0-0 draw by Clyde at Ibrox.

1948: Rangers are beaten 1-0 away at Hibs.

1953: Rangers defeat East Fife 4-0 at Ibrox thanks to an Ian McColl double and goals from Billy Simpson and Derek Grierson.

1959: Goals from Max Murray, Jimmy Millar and Alex Scott gives Rangers a 3-1 win over Forfar at Station Park in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. The Gers progressed to play Hearts in the 2nd Round.

1962: Rangers beat Airdrie 5-2 at Broomfield with goals coming from John Greig (2), Jimmy Millar (2) and Ralph Brand.

1970: A Colin Stein brace and goals from Alex MacDonald and John Greig secures a 4-0 win for Rangers over St Mirren in Paisley.

1976: Despite going ahead through Derek Johnstone, Raners can only draw 1-1 with Dundee at Dens Park.

1981: Derek Johnstone scores the only goal as Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Ibrox.

1998: Rangers suffer a 2-0 defeat by St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

2001: Tugay nets the decisive goal as Rangers take a 1-0 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. The visitors also had Neil McCann sent-off.

2003: Rangers snap up Dan Eggen from Alaves on a Free Transfer.

2005: Barry Ferguson returns to Rangers in a £4.5 million deal from Blackburn Rovers. Rangers also sign Ronald Waterreus from Manchester City for £100,000.

2008: Rangers make a late move to sign Steve Davis on loan from Fulham for the remainder of the season. Roy Carroll leaves the Gers to sign for Derby on a Free Transfer.

2009: 2 goals in the last 12 minutes from John Fleck and Kyle Lafferty hands Rangers a 2-0 win over Dundee Utd at Ibrox.

2011: Rangers sign Kyle Bartley and El-Hadji Diouf on loan from Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers respectively. James Beattie leaves the Light Blues and signs on loan for Blackpool.

2002: Despite going 2-0 up through Ronald de Boer and Tore Andre Flo, Rangers can only draw 2-2 with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Kris Boyd scored for the home side.

2007: Rangers complete the signing of Kevin Thomson from Hibs for £2 million. On the same day, the contract of Lionel Letizi is terminated.

2008: 2nd half goals from Barry Ferguson and Jean-Claude Darcheville gives Rangers a 2-0 win over Hearts in the League Cup Semi-Final. The Light Blues would meet Dundee Utd in the Final. Prior to the match, the Ibrox club confirmed the signing of Neil Alexander from Ipswich on a Free Transfer. Christian Dailly is also signed for free from West Ham. 2011: Rangers defeat Motherwell 2-1 in the Semi-Final of the League Cup. Mo Edu put the Gers in-front before Steven Naismith scored to set-up a Final with Celtic. On the same day, Rangers tie-up a Free Transfer for David Healy from Sunderland.

2016: An injury-time debut goal from Billy King is enough to give Rangers a 1-0 victory at home over Falkirk.

1882: Willie Pringle pulls a goal back as Rangers are beaten 2-1 by Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final. Immediately after the match, the Gers protested on the grounds that the game had ended 5 minutes early. The SFA agreed and ordered a Replay.

1888: Donald Gow is on target for Rangers who are beaten 3-1 by Cambuslang in the first ever Glasgow Cup Final.

1893: John Barker is the only known Rangers goalscorer from their 3-2 defeat in the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final by St Bernard’s.

1961: Max Murray scores the equaliser as Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw by St Mirren in Paisley.

1967: Rangers suffer a 1-0 defeat to Berwick Rangers in the Scottish Cup 1st Round at Shielfield. The “Darkest day in Rangers History” according to Scot Symon as his side failed to breach the Borderer’s goalkeeper, a certain Jock Wallace. Chairman John Lawrence later said there were some who would never play for the Club again. George McLean and Jim Forrest were both effectively sacked by the Club and transferred within weeks. Perhaps this rash decision was to cost the Light Blues a Continental Trophy for 4 months later, the Light Blues were forced to play the European Cup Winners’ Cup Final against Bayern Munich without a recognised striker, fielding defender Roger Hynd up-front instead.

1978: 11 years later and the Gers were back in Berwick for a Scottish Cup tie, this time in the 3rd Round. 2 goals each from Colin Jackson and Derek Johnstone sealed a 4-2 win for the Glasgow side. Stirling Albion were waiting in the 4th Round.

1984: 2 goals in the last 10 minutes from Colin McAdam and Ally McCoist sees Rangers come from 1-0 down to beat Dunfermline 2-1 in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round at Ibrox. The Gers would face Inverness Caledonian in the 4th Round.

1989: Ian Ferguson levels up for Rangers who can only draw 1-1 with Raith in the 3rd Round of the Scottish Cup at Stark’s Park. Gordon Dalziel had put the Fife side in-front.

1946: Rangers are held to a 4-4 draw at home by Morton. Billy Williamson and Ian McColl had the home side 2-0 up within 19 minutes although the Gers would find themselves 3-2 behind at half-time. Jimmy Caskie pulled a goal back just after the Ton extended their lead to 4-2 but a last minute goal from Willie Waddell secured a draw for the Light Blues.

1952: Rangers thrash St Mirren 5-0 with goals scored by Willie Paton, Willie Thornton (2) and Colin Liddell (2).

1957: 2 goals from Max Murray and a goal from Billy Simpson sees Rangers to a 3-0 win at Partick Thistle.

1966: Eric Caldow, Willie Mathieson and Roger Hynd are kidnapped outside Ibrox! The trio were walking back from the Albion Training Ground to Ibrox when a group of students from the Scottish Physiotherapy Hospital staged the stunt as part of their Charities Week. Manager Scot Symon was less than impressed, believing that his players could’ve have caught colds however it didn’t stop the students from carrying out a fundraising tricycle race at Ibrox a few days later.

1974: Tommy McLean and Derek Parlane both score hat-tricks as Rangers thump Queen’s Park 8-0 in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. Ally Scott and Eric Morris are also on the scoresheet as the Gers progressed to face Dundee in the 4th Round. Parlane also missed a penalty.

1980: Sandy Jardine and Colin Jackson score in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Clyde at Shawfield in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round.

1985: Rangers draw 3-3 with Morton in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. John McDonald, Robert Prytz and Dave McPherson were on the mark for the Light Blues.

2002: Rangers defeat Hibs 4-1 in the Scottish Cup 4th Round courtesy of goals from Tore Andre Flo (2), Peter Lovenkrands and Billy Dodds. The Gers would meet Forfar in the Quarter-Final. On the same day, Dick Advocaat was named as the new Manager of the Dutch National side, hoping to combine the role with his Director of Football duties at Rangers.

2008: Goals from Chris Burke, Kris Boyd and Steven Whittaker (2) hands Rangers a 4-0 home win against St Mirren.

2011: Madjid Bougherra and Nikica Jelavic score as Rangers take a 2-0 win over Hibs in Edinburgh.

2013: Rangers are forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Montrose at Ibrox. The home side went ahead through a Crawford OG.

1890: Donald Gow scores both goals to give Rangers a 2-0 Friendly victory over Partick Thistle at Inchview.

1896: 2 goals from Alec Smith and 1 from Jimmy Oswald sees Rangers come from behind to claim a 3-1 victory over Dumbarton at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup 1st Round Replay. The Gers would face St Mirren in the 2nd Round.

1902: Rangers thump Inverness Caledonian 5-1 in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round thanks to goals from James Wilkie, Alec Smith (2), Johnny Campbell and JR Hamilton. The Light Blues would meet Kilmarnock in the Quarter-Final.

1908: George Livingstone and John May are on the scoresheet as Rangers are held to a 2-2 draw by Falkirk in the 1st Round of the Scottish Cup.

1913: Dr Jimmy Paterson, John Goodwin and Willie Reid get the goals as Rangers defeat Morton 3-0 in a League match at Cappielow.

1919: A goal each from Sandy Archibald and Jimmy Gordon secures a narrow 2-1 victory for Rangers over Hibs in Edinburgh.

1930: A Sandy Archibald double and a goal from Bob McPhail earns Rangers a 3-1 win at home against Aberdeen.

1941: Jimmy Smith scores 5 times as Rangers thrash Albion Rovers 7-2 at Cliftonhill. Alex Beattie grabbed the other 2 goals for the Gers in the Southern League fixture.

1947: A goal each from Jimmy Duncanson and Willie Thornton is enough to seal a 2-1 win for Rangers against Clyde in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. The Ibrox side progressed to face Hibs in the 2nd Round.

1964: Rangers ease to a 9-0 win at home over Duns in the Scottish Cup 2nd Round courtesy of 4 goals from Jimmy Millar, a hat-trick from Ralph Brand and goals from Willie Henderson and George McLean. The Light Blues were drawn to play Partick Thistle in the 3rd Round.

1969: Colin Stein scores the only goal as Rangers beat Hibs 1-0 in the Scottish Cup 1st Round. Hearts would provide the 2nd Round opposition.

1975: Despite going ahead through Ally Scott, Rangers can only draw 1-1 with Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round.

1986: Goals from Ally McCoist and Ian Durrant aren’t enough to prevent Rangers from suffering a 3-2 3rd Round defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round at Tynecastle. The visitors had had Derek Ferguson sent-off.

1997: Erik Bo Andersen and Seb Rozental are on the mark as Rangers beat St Johnstone 2-0 in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. East Fife were awaiting the Gers in the 4th Round.

2000: Rangers draw 0-0 with Sparta Rotterdam in the official inauguration of the stadium Eneco Redevelopment.

2003: Goals from Barry Ferguson, Craig Moore and Shota Arveladze gives Rangers a 3-0 win at Arbroath in the Scottish Cup 3rd Round. The Light Blues moved on to face Ayr Utd in the 4th Round.

2007: Rangers sign Ugo Ehiogu from Middlesbrough on a Free Transfer. Jeremy Clement is sold by the Ibrox Club to PSG for £1.8 million.

2014: Rangers defeat Arbroath 3-2 at Ibrox. Jon Daly equalised for the home side although 2 goals in the last 20 minutes from David Templeton and Lee McCulloch were required to secure a narrow victory.

2016: Kenny Miller and Barrie McKay get the goals as Rangers beat Morton 2-0 at Cappielow. Andy Halliday was also sent-off in very bizarre circumstances.
